I am playing as a Count in the County of Lancaster

I have just been prompted by another member of my liege's council to vote, but I can't seem to find anywhere I can see what I am actually voting on. When I select the law tab, I can see laws that apply in my county, but none of the crown laws. Is it possible to view this anywhere? Am I missing something obvious?

Also, what is the difference between the mayor of a town and a barony. I have read round til I am blue in the face and I am stlll not seeing it :/ In a brand new game, will I have to revoke someone's title to give a barony?

Also, I see the stat 'My opinion of x'. How can I see a breakdown of this. I can easily find a breakdown of their opinion of me, but not the other way round.

1) In the laws tab, in the upper left corner, you have the flag of your top title (so Count of Lancaster for you), and next to it you have your lieges' top titles (so your Duke's duchy). Click on it and you'll be able to see the laws which are applied

2) Mayor = republic = city, baron = feudal = castle
As a feudal count you can only own castles, if you were to own a city you would not be able to get levies from it and you'd get like 25% of its taxes

3) You can see your opinion of them if you are their direct liege or direct vassal I think, otherwise you can't see the breakdown.

Thanks

So to clarify.

In a county with 3 holdings that has a castle town (the county capital), a city and a bishopric, then I would have build another castle town in order be able to grant another barony in that county as handing over the county capital would, in effect, be handing over the county?

I am now getting used to the 'shield navigation'. The UI is actually quite nice, just a lot to it!

Am still a little confused about the council. I have played a bit more and occasionally I do get a prompt stating what law is being voted on and can see supporters for and against, but I still get pop ups asking for support, but doesn;t say in support of what. Am guessing it just means voting in line with them - glory hound, pragmatic, etc?

1) Yes, if you give the primary settlement (a city in the case of a republic county, a castle in a county, or a church for a bishopric), you give the county as a whole. So you have a republican county, and you want it to turn into a feudal county, you first need to build a castle, after that it depends :
- If you, the county direct owner, are already feudal, but the county is not, then the castle will automatically be the county's capital
- If you, the county direct owner, are not feudal, then you will just have another castle in the county, nothing else changed
- If a vassal helds the county title, you will have to give it to them, and then I think you can refer to the line I just wrote before

2) You did not set your position on your liege's council (loyal, glory hound, pragmatic, zealot, disloyal) ? Hmm, I don't know what happens in that case.
But if you set your position, you will automatically vote according to what your position is (if you're loyal you'll accept everything, or nearly, that your liege proposes for example).

I am not 100% sure what are you asking but I try to say something useful.
You are a Count and you hold a province which is a county because the top holding is a castle (don't say castle town because it could be misunderstood). Other provinces names are Grand City (Republic) and Price-Bishopric (Theocracy)
Go to the Wiki for more info. In your County (=province) there are also a City and a Temple and one free holding slot. Since you already have every type of holding in this province you are able to choose freely the next one. Most people build cities becasue in long term you get more money from it. I personally switch between castles and cities 50/50 to get troops and money. On the day the new holding is finished, no mater what typ, it will go to the person who built it (you) or the heir if the person is dead. When you demesne is not already on the limit you should definitely keep the castle for you self. A city or a temple should be given away becasue a feudal lord like you can not fully utilize these types.
