I’m enjoying the game and looking forward to the Azure patch! I have been following recent suggestions for epitaphs on the death screen and (I think) I understand the technical challenge of save game bloat. Perhaps one solution would be to allow players to 1) write their own (character-limited) epitaph, and 2) view and edit those epitaphs from the ‘lineage’ tab.

I really like the lineage screen as a kind of ‘series recap’ between sessions. Viewable and customizable epitaphs would enhance that function even further. At the same time, it wouldn't alter the game experience for players who aren’t interested. I also think this feature would be popular with content creators who run multi-part streams or YouTube series. The ability to view and edit the epitaph later would allow them to poll the audience and pick their favorite epitaph from viewer suggestions.

I can’t comment on how feasible this is technically, but I would think that short (character-limited) additions to character files, initiated by the player only, would limit save game bloat.
