I've noticed that many people are bit overwhelmed on how to go about successfully building a "Pre-Metro" (Straßenbahn) Line. This video gives a quick guide on how-to get that done New-York style! Enjoy! :D

Nice video! I have a couple things to ask:
a)Is this really needed (i.e have you really compared pre-metro costs with metro costs?)? Underground roads are expensive and maybe if you build a line like that, especially if very long, it's better to build a metro line. Not counting that to build pedestrian streets you usually have to destroy buildings, especially in the city center.
b)Why use bus only roads? If the road's entrances are only via pedestrian streets and/or bus lanes, car won't run on them even if those are normal highway roads. So it's better to use normal HW roads that are cheaper.

It is not cheaper for building.
1000 meters long two tracks metro line on the 20 m underground costs 20 332.
The same road, 1000 m, 20 m underground, usual road, one way bus line = 6 039, to put tram tracks takes 2 001 money, thus we have 8 040 for one direction and total 16080 with way back. If build not usual road but expressway, the road cost is twice higher.

So only building the road is compared by the price with building metro line. And consider the need for creating entrances, that needs to buldorize buildings, this pre-metro line takes much more money.

BUT!

Is is little more estetic.
It can be used by all types of transport (bus, trams, trolleys if you put the lines).
You can make express bus lines through whole city not thinking about road traffic and without creating a lot of change-line stops with hundreds of people migrating from stop to stop.

Underground tram is a nice idea, but there are flaws in CIM2 as you need to build every station independent exit. Moreover, CIM's may just walk along the pavement instead of using the underground tram service.

I've used this technique before, for loops around downtown using the small fast and high satisfaction trolley bus. Can't say I paid to much attention to the cost (it didn't seem expensive, used two-way bus road), but it became a very busy and profitable line.
