I've looked up on google and saw a lot of discussion in prior versions of the game but how does winning with Fanatic Pacifism work in 1.5?

You can only have defensive wars which eliminates the first two victory conditions without crawling up slowly.

The federation option seemed good but it seems you get a -50 modifier to joining/creating federations due to being a Fanatic Pacifist which means..no joining for the 3rd victory option.

Am I missing anything?

The only way to win as fanatic pacifist is to have your ethos shift off of fanatic pacifist. Dead serious. You cannot wage any kind of war (liberation is regular pacifist) and uniting a big enough federation to win is extremely difficult, sometimes outright impossible.
The only thing I've been able to do is continually provoke nearby neighbors into attacking me so that I can "defend" myself.

Lol, why they did that? I actually saw a Federation as the only hope to win a game as FP, but a -50 penalty?

I am playing at fanatic pacifist at the moment and iam fairly late into game and its not long to get the federation victory as iam in a war right now. My second tradition was was the "Federation what so ever called tradition thing" to start as the only one who can create federations. So ive got 5 Members in my Federation early on. From time to time one of the Member declares war and iam joining to ensure peace.

Winning as a fanatic pacifist is possible. The reason its possible is due to a huge difference the devs put in that everyone ignores.. Now empires who don't have the same war dec options can still be in the same federation. They will get somewhat of a negative modifier, but they can and will still join under certain circumstances.

It's very possible, and actually pretty easy to invite a bunch of nearby friendly neighbors who have the war dec liberation wars into your pacifist federation. Anytime they are the leader, they will in time declare liberation wars, which will add yet more civilizations to your federation, or make your current ones bigger if they vassalize them.

It is possible, and very do able.

In my galaxy , there is no other fanatic pacifist empires and only a handful of pacifists. The few who are pacifist are too far away or isolationists also so they won't join me in a federation. It seems I have no way of really making much happen at this point while the regular ruled empires continue to eat away at other smaller empires.

I feel there needs to be another path to victory (or a couple). A cultural, population and science victory would be awesome. Maybe also improve the victory screen to display who is close to winning for each victory like Civ games. I have a personal rule to always play RANDOM and I fear getting a fanatic pacifist again. Early game I got in gear and colonized and expanded as much as I could but now there is just gridlock and nothing really for me to do to change that.

If your goal is to end the game using one of the 3 current victory conditions, do not play a fanatic pacifist, it is (almost) impossible.

Hopefully there will be non conquest related victory conditions added at some point and fanatic pacifist is itself a great pick, as long as you don't intend to go to war that is (which makes sense).

A science or cultural victory should be available in cases like this.

I'm playing as a federation builder and got an amazing start. On my quadrant of the galaxy there are two pacifists, one fanatic pacifist, the Blorg, the UNE and the Xenophile FE. Unfortunately only one of the pacifists and the Blorg joined my federation. The others hate at least one of them and have a -1000 or -2000 modifier.

What is the best strategy to form a large federation? Should I avoid having repugnant races, like the Blorg? Why does the other pacifist empire hates the one in my federation if both are fanatic spiritualist and pacifist???

The victory conditions are not really important for Stellaris. You can safely ignore them and just set suitable goals for yourself. Why play fanatical pacifist if your goal is galactic domination? Doesn't make any sense, imo.

I don't know about Utopia/Banks, but in my previous game, I blobbed 1/5th of the galaxy without ever firing a shot at another empire. Aggressive use of frontier posts, enlightening and integrating less developed species, and the shattered remnants of surrounding empires asking me to vassalize them for protection. I only ended that game because of the update.

But I'm blobbing pretty hard with the same strategy in my latest game, and still only fought with the Dimensional Horror (who destroyed my fleet).

Long live the People's Republic of Earth!
