It looks really great, except the fact that the Allies and the Comintern only achieved one goal :(
This shows either the AIs incapability to fulfill their goals or that you played very good and hindered them... I fear the first one is true

Look at the VCs the Axis have managed: London, Gibralter etc are all under Axis control, obviously the Allies aren't going to do very well in a situation like that.

You can only see a little of SOV, but I don't think King DoWed them. Since they're not actually in the war they can't go for their VCs.

Don't worry so much:p

I think it speaks for itself that if one faction is doing well, the others will not. And the Comintern will never have many victory conditions. Only after taking over Eastern Europe would they have a few.

So you only need 12 of the victory conditions to win but the progress bar fills up to the 15 total possibilites? Confusing design choice there...

You can continue playing, thus the bar needs to accomodate all 15.

Congratulations, really looking forward to Semper Fi now.

One minor nitpick: It's could/would have, not could of. eg, "I'm not sure why I should have asked the Japanese to take it".

He's British(sorry, English. No, I mean Scottish.;) ), so I think he knows. I guess it's some kind of slang.-

It's actually, I believe, a case of spoken word morphing written word. For generations, people would say "would have", slurring it further and further, until, in the collective conciousness, what we were saying sounded closer to would of, at which point many even translate that corruption to writing. In short, it's not proper English, but it's common English.

As someone living in the United States, I can safely say "would of" is common both in written and spoken word, though English professors usually cringe at it. Give it another 200 years and I bet English Professors will see "would have" as being overly formal.

I didn't feel the need to create new ones. My theatres were doing a good job.

How could they? The old "add a brigade to increase HQ radio range" is removed in Semper Fi, correct? So how could your units around the world stay in range of the HQ?

Operation Tannenbaum for a Victory Point? The Swiss are screwed......

I'm not so sure. I'm really looking forward to trying that as Germany -- I want the Swiss to fight like hell! Definitely no government in exile either -- they ought to "fight to the last man" (comparatively, anyway).

Who says he went around the world? A theatre HQ in GER/FRA has the range for armies in the UK and the Med and JAP took the far east objectives.

If the Naval War was going poorly for Japan I would guess that getting Manilla would be even more of a priority. As long as the AI doesn't have unlimited range ships, making the US take naval bases to increase its range keeps the Homeland safe that much longer.

Wake Island already has transport range to Japan in this game, so philippines are pretty much redundant for an invasion of japanese home islands...the only thing Us could really use besides transport range is an in-range airfield, but the philippines are too far to be used for that so again they aren't necessary or even terribly useful.

Besides, if the japanese can't hold their own in the naval war they can't very well hold the philippines anyway =/

True that it has transport range, but not all of its fleets/escorts will have escort range. The entire US Pacific Fleet may beat the Japanese fleet, but a reduced escort force may not be able to keep the transports safe. Even with a mainland focus, Japan should be trying to stall the US Pacific advance (so that its home shores are kept safe.) The troops in China can't eat if the US can easily blockade its shores.

Or he could have meant "would've".

Japan is too dependant on its convoys to pursue pure-land development. Supplying big army in China and Burma will be impossible without means to protect at least home waters. Chinese coastline is huge and the best way to protect it is to have naval supremacy. Also, a strong navy is needed to protect the Japanese home islands against the possible invasion or at least it should be the case with naval AI on at least basic level (IMO HOI3 Vanilla has no Naval AI...).

Philippines are very important when the Japanese control Dutch East Indies (which is not the case in this game). Also, they can serve as naval and army base for the USA (if the AI is smart enough to realise that), which is dangerous, because it's easier to make direct invasion of China or Siam with Philippines in control.

This game would probably end in total failure of the Japanese, anyway. Just look at the US progress in its invasion of Japanese home islands...

Destroyers are the only ship type with less base range than transports (well, besides subs), and with 1938 engines even they can bombard tokyo from wake island, to say nothing of guam :)

With even 1938 engines your carriers can support an invasion of Japan from as far away as hawaii, as well.

Now, I'm not saying that taking philippines is useless for the US, and if you CAN take them as the japanese, with any hope of holding them, then it's a great idea; it's just that it's not really as important as it would need to be for japan to expend forces trying to take it in the case that US has naval superiority---after all, the Us already has transport range to Japan, and every force spent on indefensible islands like philippines weakens the home defense and allows the US navy to cut off reinforcements and destroy piecemeal any troops you send there.

So if I were playing the US in this situation I would rather HOPE that the japanese would try and take philippines---split your forces without hope of backup and let me take them out separately :p
