Can we dl'd it from somewhere where we don't have to sign up to get it?!?
Sure. Just download it from my signature.

I just dld' Hotfix 1 dated 2008; this one is dated 2007?

You need the All-in-one hotfix for Revolutions (see first line in my sig). That has all the hotfixes for Revolutions merged into one.

Be careful NOT to download the VIP hotfixes, those are not meant for basic Revolutions.

I am confused (as per usual)

I have downloaded both HOTFIXes at different time of course and took the file folder and put it in the Victoria folder.

Now come the confusion  Is there anything else I have to do? How do I know they are installed? I feel so stupid every time I ask these questions.

I am a college grad over 69 year of age and still can't figure these things as easily as a junior high student :eek:o .

Thanks for any help anyone can be.

You need to take the contents of the hotfix folder (e.g. AI, db, GFX, scenarios folders) and move them to Victoria folder so that they overwrite the original files.

Quick question: Will the next hotfix fix the horrid auto-trade ai?

Right now it just randomly sells things to make a profit and leaves your factories unworkable. (And you can forget about building armies and colonies!)

The only available fix, and most likely the only one that will ever be available, is to not use it.

Great work on all the fixes, the game is so much better than the 1.00b vanilla Victoria I originally played.

Here are some of the issues I've found. If the format or grammar are a bit odd it's cause I'm copying straight out of notepad, so if clarifications are needed just ask. ? Indicates I'm not sure about something, but it was sufficiently unusual at the time to jot it down. It's also on any event files which still have 1920 deathdates, they may be better off not being changed as some of the events are a bit odd in a post WW I world and usually it won't affect game play (and I haven't bothered to include anything where the only thing I've found are 1920 deathdates. If you do want those just ask)

Some of these issues are very minor, and may not be worth including, while others make a difference. And I'm sure some of them are just me missing the point of something, so don't actually need fixing:

config

unit_names.csv
Replace have with has, division with ship where appropriate to make a huge difference to the professionalism (and take away some of the character) of the game

db

revolt.txt
FRM, ANH, MEI, SAX, HED, HEK, NAS still have pre Hotfix 1 cultures

events

1881.txt
28012 deathdate is before start date

1914.txt
? Many events still using delete_unit despite problem with AUS, GER, High Sea Fleet. Is there a problem?
28556 flag denoting Montenegro as Allies is on wrong option (though it's also never used by other events)
28522 does not have trigger to see if France controls new capital, but 28575 does for Belgium. Means Belgium can't lose if Leopoldville captured and England still going, but France might move capital into enemy hands
28663 should be BELFightson
28564 either shouldn't have AI chance or should have refusal
? 28632, 28633 need political reforms
? 28634 needs civilised

ai_events.txt
? 30166 30167 why are BAY and MEC out of or bracket?

? 1920 deathdates

flavor_eng.txt
? 36934 needs dragoons

flavor_fra.txt
37206 play the sax can occur before flavor_bel.txt 36704 the invention of the sax

flavor_ham.txt
? Are the research points meant to be there, perhaps as efforts to prevent recurrence or to rebuild? Still a little strange

flavor_ind.txt
49300 province should be 1967

flavor_rus.txt
32501 doubles up with poland.txt 32402 - get rid of flavor_rus.txt version

flavor_swi.txt
31300 date should be 1837
? 31304 Jewish militancy increases after getting citizenship

forcedreforms.txt
? 23111, 23116 need political reforms (and maybe 23114, 23115?)

goldevents.txt
21133 Hotfix 2 fix incorrect. Should have all three province references changed to 2833 Bendigo (one of largest gold sources ever), not 2731 Great Sandy Desert (a big desert)
? 1920 deathdates

India.txt
For all events where 5301 is gained, should gain tech 5002 as prerequisite
? 1920 deathdates

interwar.txt
28745 sets a Georgian flag in a Mongolian event

Japan.txt
For all events where 2002 and/or 5301 is gained, should gain tech 5002 as prerequisite
12608 is untiggerable
? 1920 deathdates

Persia.txt
7800 should gain tech 5002 as prerequisite to 5301

political_events.txt
22009 needs the nine new ship classes

province_owner.txt
Hotfix 2 events to raise life ratings not present

revolution.txt
23101 national value should be liberty

Russia.txt

? 1920 deathdates

Spain.txt
7704 needs same additions as 7700 in Hotfix 5 to keep monarchy
? 1920 deathdates

sweden.txt
? 6604 shouldn't have relation trigger or Denmark.txt 6215 should
? 1920 deathdates

tech

army_inventions.txt
113 to 116, 135 to 140, 159 to 164 unlocked before their prerequisites

army_tech.txt
? 1301 is unusual in affecting irregulars, seems like an undeleted or commented out relic

commerce_inventions.txt
309, 310, 317, 318, 339 to 347, 351, 362 to 364, 374 to 376 unlocked before their prerequisites
1920 deathdates need fixing
365, 366 missing modifier to lumber mill
377 improves account efficiency unlike similar inventions - is this deliberate?

commerce_tech.txt
3006, 3106, 3306 all improve account efficiency unlike preceding techs - is this deliberate?
3406 should be commented as organisational development

culture_inventions.txt
424, 426, 429 to 432, 461, 462 unlocked before their prerequisites
1920 deathdates need fixing
454 needs modifiers for the 9 new ship classes

industry_inventions.txt
500, 517, 518, 521, 523 to 525, 534, 535, 554, 555 unlocked before their prerequisites

industry_tech.txt
5306 should be commented as Limited-Access Roads
5405 unlocked in 1880, but prerequisite 5005 not till 1885

navy_inventions.txt
202, 203, 220, 221, 237 to 239, 256, 257 unlocked before their prerequisites
All deathdates should be changed to 1935, otherwise late bloomers eg Japan miss out. Some inventions even have deathdates earlier than when prerequisites are available
219 should have 212 requirement to prevent slim chance of late game ships having corvette escorts, while still allowing late bloomers to access corvettes
288 should have 216 requirement to prevent slim chance of late game monitors, while still allowing late bloomers to access monitors (unless this slim chance desired)
221 change 215 requirement to 217 to prevent slim chance of late game protected cruisers, while still allowing late bloomers to access protected cruisers
241 to 287, 581 to 588 inclusive are missing the early cruiser for organisation/morale modifiers
? 294 should be triggered by 289, not 298
? 581 to 588 should have 1919 start dates (some specifically mention being after the Great War, all triggered by level 6 tech)
591 either missing early, late cruiser or shouldn't have modern; probably needs some other ships eg carriers (unless effect is already built in - but then why does it affect late BB/CB?)

navy_tech.txt
All techs missing year requirement
? Naval Doctrine techs have redundant requirements
? 2103 change requirement to 2003 from 2001
2202 Man O War build time modifier missing
2206 should be commented as modern, not advanced naval design

Hope a few of these might help

Re: invention deathdates

Note that invention deathdates do not mean the invention will not appear after that date; the invention actually becomes much more likely to appear quickly after the deathdate.

Thanks for pointing that out, I'll keep that in mind. Like I said, I was sure some of them I'd just missed the point, some of the commands are just a bit odd. Took me a while to work out that most of the time " = " means greater than or equal to

I'm sure there are plenty of other problems in that list, but if one or two of them actually need fixes then the game's better.

Also the interwar.txt event 28745 for Mongolia starts a rebelion in Tblisi, as well as setting the Georgian event flag. Looks like it was copy and pasted, but not completely changed.

You have to open the zip, open each folder (ai, config etc) then drag and copy the contents over the same file in your base Victoria:Revolutions setup. So you end up replacing the England.inc file in your base folder with the newer file in the zip/rar

But I'm so lazy, that's too much work. :eek:o

Haha, that's resurrected this back from my very first posts. Now that I'm a whole ten months older and wiser (or at least in regards to the forum), kind of embarrassing ;) Nevertheless, there are still a few fixable issues that could be tidied up, if OHgamer is ever free in his busy schedule. A tidier, shorter and (maybe) better version of the previous posting:
