Hi,

Just started looking through the game forum and am looking forward to the game! However, I do have some questions if anyone would care to answer!

1) Will Victoria be released in the same way as EU2 and HOI with regards, what I consider a non-complete testing phase?
i.e. Due to the large number of game possibilties with the game need a couple more patches to become refined and therefore evolve with the participation of the community.

2) Will provinces have defensable positions (forts) like in HOI which can be upgraded. Will this be for a province as a whole or will there be more than one, so a sub list of forts in a province which must be attacked and defeated individually?

3) Will there be an overlay screen to show one type of unit across the board? I.e. click a button see all colonial army in all provinces, click again see only militia, etc

4) Will scripting allow for unit specific manipulation?

5) What military actions can be assigned to a unit? Will formations be part of a units possible orders?

6) Will leaders be like in HOI? Can these be captured/held for ransom?

7) Civ3 has the concept of WOnders, anything like this planned?

8) Will the manual be written to higher degree of professionalism? Do you want any help with the tech. authoring?

9) Will there be an expanded set of diplomatic actions? What are they?

10) Will sea zones be large or will they change?

Er I get the idea that no answers are available yet because the coding is going on!

Maybe Im wrong but I would have thought that some of the questions could be answered by now! Ok Ok I shall wait!

But I would have thought that at least 2questions could have been answered by now!

Hmmm, we will most likely make changes to the game after release but I'm pretty sure that 1.00 of Victoria will be very, very different from 1.00 of HoI.

Provinces will have a fortification level that can be expanded.

Warfare is more like EU2 but with the HoI unit structure. No, formations won't be a part of the game.

There are leaders in the game similar to HoI. No, they can not be captured and ransomed.

I'd LOVE to see comprehensive peace treaties!

1) Restrict army to x ammount of troops

2) Restrict construction of certain units

3) Demilitarising pronvinces

etc.

Thanks for taking time out to reply to my questions.

What I meant was, will the script writing engine allow a MODDER to write events that allow say an effect on units (unit manipulation through scripting)! I.e. Your forces are ambushed in the hills(of a province) by natives. STR reduced by 5, ORG reduced by 25!

As for the seazones, I wanted to know if they will be more seazones than in the current HOI/EU games? If so, how much more more?

Yes amongst other things, but through events, such as native ambushes, desertions, illness and possibly local conscriptions which lower attk, defense values!

Yes for sure!!

I appreciate the problems and issues with the management of software delivery being a project manager by trade/ previously a developer (not games).

I am (and I suspect and large number of persons are) ok with the evolutionary path Paradox games take. I know others are not! To those I say tough. If every company had the millions spare to spend of testing to extremes, theyd probably spend it on getting a better game engine than the competition!!

Such is the industry!

However, my underlying reason was simply so I can gauge whether or not I should by when the product goes GOLD or wait until a post release update is issued!

There are quite a few things that can be done via events but I'm not sure if you are able to affect the stats of a single unit in that way. You can make units mutiny through events (strange sentence) in any case. We will tell you more about the new event commands when we are 100% done with the function of them.

Sea zones... There are 2300+ provinces and ca 550 sea zones on the map right now but that ain't the final version so it is subject to change.
