Short summary of your issue
Revolutions to preserve monarchy place a new monarch on the throne

Game Version
1.0.4

What OS are you playing on?
Mac

Do you have mods enabled?
Yes

Have you tried verifying your game files?
No

How much "pain" is this causing you?

Please explain the issue you experienced in the most condensed way possible
A revolution creates a new country. This new country gets new leaders generated for it, including a head of state. But the monarchists want to *preserve* the monarchy, so it doesn't make sense for them to generate a new monarch. The game supports having the same head of state for separate countries (personal unions), so the same should probably be done here.

This is especially glaring when the monarch's interest group is the landowners (not the case with Portugal, who I just quickly triggered this with, but it happened to me with Sindh, whose monarch loves the landowners).

In the attached screenshot, you'll see that there's a "Manuel da Silva Pereira" on the throne now, instead of Maria de Bragança, after I switched to the rebels and won the war.

Please explain how to reproduce the issue
Start as a monarchy, try to switch from monarchy, spawn a revolution, switch to the rebels and win.

Is there anything else you think could help us identify/replicate the issue?

Isn't this working as intended? Technically you are playing as the head of state. Imagine your head of state makes a law you don't agree with, so you start a revolution to overthrow them. You are not going to put that same person back in power after you win said war. :p

But what do I know, I'll wait till a dev confirms.

Didn't respond right away since I thought a dev would take a look, bumping because I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere else.

The player is not the head of state; they are an amorphous concept driving the nation. In the case of abolishing the monarchy in particular, the starting monarchs' interest groups are usually the landowners, who are pro-monarchy, and abolishing the monarchy in a situation where it would lead to a revolution involves going against a significant amount of the nation's clout, often with very low odds of success.

Since these "preserve law" revolutions are all about *not* enacting the proposed change, it really doesn't make sense that they'd do something as radical as overthrow an entire dynasty over it.

Hi there,

Thank you for reporting this and for the further observations! We've added this to our bug database so that the dev team can have a look and consider whether this system will be changed.

Cheers!
