Victoria First? OR Victoria/Revolutions together?

Hi Guys!

I have played Crusader Kings, EU2, and HoI2/DD/A quite a bit (probably getting close to one actual man-year of my life sitting in front of a computer screen...). I have decided to give Victoria a shot now.

My question is simple, should I get Victoria and play it for awhile before I get Revolutions, or should I just get the two of them at once?

Unless you get some kind of wonderfulicious discount by buying them both at the same time, I would get vanilla first and try it. If you do not like vanilla, I don't believe that Revolutions will change your mind. Fundamentally, I think Revolutions is a bit easier to play than vanilla due to the capitalists buying factories and railroads for you; but the actual game play remains essentially the same across both versions.

Seems silly to spend an extra $10 on a game you don't like.

That being said, I can't imagine anyone NOT liking Victoria. Of course, there are a lot of things that I can't imagine but others like 'em anyway. So there you go...

If you have played all those Paradox games and like them all to whatever degree, I would expect you to like Victoria as well. It is a very different game than any of the others. You obviously like micro-management.

Heck. Go ahead. It's only thirty bucks. You would spend twice that for Dominions 3, or any decent Playstation game.

Now let's not scare the new initiate.

The learning cliff is steep, but the feeling of success once you scale the most difficult heights and master the climb is more than worth it.

If you're already playing CK, EU and HoI, Victoria will be a big step, not a leap (in terms of learning curve) and is definitely do-able.

I jumped right in with Revolutions, but if you have any doubt if you will like it (I didn't), then just try vanilla for now...
