WiWi Walker please use Victory X mod as is without Community mod. Because it uses different economy files that are crucial to ensure balance in it.

Do I have the economic Changes of the Victoria X mod only in the Victoria X Scenario or also in the "normal" Scenarios?
I play as desribed above a "normal" Grand Campaign. Do I have know the Changes of a mixture of both mods or only from Community mod?
However, it works imho for my Prussia game very well. No balance Problems till now (1871). Its my first time that i want to play till 1920. My game is somehow "softer" than 1.02 Vanilla. But with my expirience and skill with the game at the moment i am happy and dont wanna change anything at the moment (never touch a running sytem :D ). Ok, perhaps adding glass or something like that to the Colonial needings.
Thanks a lot for your mods, whatever mixture i play at the moment
(Its like a cook. Take something from everything :D )

i just tried the community mod last night and i can say that it worked well - moneymaking is a lot easier now, although paper and machine parts where a problem until 1846 (the edited techs wich give machine parts, paper and clothes really helped!). colonization is much slower now, but the increased costs of lumber for colonial buildings made it difficult to build railroads in a country with now woods :( .

despite that i can say that this was the best game i had with victoria since 1.02 :)

But i really like that.I had numerous games under this mod and while stuff like paper and machine parts were able to aquire in small but bearable numbers ,it sometimes get hard just to get raw resources like wood and especially coal in large numbers for youre industry. When Machine parts are still scarce it's more interresting to build factory's like lumber, cement and especially steel factory's as they only require 1 machine part and can bring in some basic improved income ,but a well filled level 3 factory can be efficiant in sucking up all the coal you can get from the WM.And if youre outside Europe ,chances are slim that you have coal in youre country.

Well, sorry it took so long folks, but it's finally here! Victoria Community Mod 1.04 is ready, and it's the most exciting update yet. Now that the economy is fixed, we can finally start getting around to the really fun stuff.

Here is what you can expect

---Colonization has been slowed down tremendously. Building any of the colonial buildings now requires glass, paper, ammunition and small arms. The small arms and ammunition are to represent the weapon deposits that would be necessary to put down any uprisings. Glass and paper represent things that would be required to maintain a colonial infastructure.

---Several events have been added to increase playability and make the game more fun.

--------Egypt and Korea now have events that allow them to become civilized.
-Egypt historically was a de facto civilized nation, and according to beta tester Peter Ebbeson, the main reason they are uncivilized in the game is to allow a resurgent Ottoman Empire to conquer them in one war. The player now has the option near the beginning of the game to pass reforms which would allow the nation to become civilized. These reforms greatly piss of England and the aristocracy though.
-Korea being one of the world's greatest civilizations for centuries and centuries, it is a shame that there is no event which allowed them to become civilized in the vanilla version of the game. THere was a large minority within Korea who realized that they must modernize or be swallowed by their larger neighbors. Unfortunately, in real life this group never had a chance to push their reforms through. But in Victoria you now have a chance. Shortly after Japan opened Korea for trade, it sent a technical mission to learn from the Japanese model. It was Korea's first serious attempt to adopt western institutions. If you learn enough from the Japanese, you can later pass radical reforms which would allow you to become civilized, at the cost of relations with the aristocracy and reactionary pops, and at an extreme monetary cost.
In game terms, you can expect Korea to have a chance to become civilized in the 1870's if you play your cards right.

With these events, the countries that can become civilized by events are China, Japan, Korea, Persia and India (via Mughalistan). Not a bad lineup, I am probably going to give Siam a similar treatment in the next update. If anyone can make a case for any other uncivilized nations getting the chance to become civilized, I would be interested to hear it.

-----There is now an event to simulate the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. If America secures a decisive defeat over the Mexicans, it will now be awarded the southwest.

------If the Russians or Greeks capture Constantinople, an event will now fire which cause the Turks to flee the city and set up a capitol in another city. The Turks can move the capitol back later on if they retake the city.

------Also, Turkey is now given a monetary penalty at the beginning of the game to weaken it a little bit.

So without further ado, download Away!
Let me know your experiences!

that sounds great!

this mod is really great. excellent work. it allows you to play the game but you have to keep tweeking your economy and you never get to rich.
some observations:

there is no balance of power. I as prussia conquered poland, the netherlands, czecheslovakia and all the german minors before 1860. One after another and no one intervened and no one cared. maybe because of my 1 million man army but still...I don't know how this is implemented or would be changed, though. maybe making BB add up faster?

the sardinian or sicilian AI never can conquer italy because it always makes peace with the northern peninsular minors. is there something that can be done with the AI to make it not make peace with any italian minors until all the required cities are in it's hands?

peace treaties are messed up, moreso than vanilla victoria ones. in one game I had the first opium war last 30 years, the ACW is lasted 7 years, and the mexican-british war lasting 10 years. in the last two cases, the mexicans and confederates had war exhaustion of 100% and wouldn't make peace.

army maintainece should require small arms and canned food or be more expensive or both. with the forementioned 1 million man army my army maintainence was only around 300-400 pounds. keep in mind that only about 15 divisions were artillary and enginners and the rest were vanilla infanty, but that seems obscenely low. maybe make you pay canned food for army maintainence and increase the cost and make you pay small arms when you reinforce units?

once again, great work. you made 1.02 quite playable

Thanks for the suggestions Sehnsuct. One of the things I am really looking at doing is simplifying the unification events, particularly those of Italy. The issue of balance of power may be beyond my ability to change, but I will take a look at the possibilty of implementing "balance of power" events.

just some more observations around army maintainence and things

russia seems to be to powerful. 3rd best about midway through the game. but austria and china arn't doing very good at all and that's a good thing

50 of the above mentioned 100 or so divs were conscripts so that might explain the oddly low army maintainence. but I build 5 artillary divs and it raises army maintainence by 100 when 10 normal infanty barely raised it at all. so I think that conscript costs should be raised and artillary costs should be lowered but to make up for it, ammunitium should also be an army maintainence required resource. so if you wanna be a big warmongerer you will have to produce large amounts of canned food, ammunitium, and small arms to support your army. I don't know if any of this is implementable but it would improve the game vastly and keep the AI from having huge unrealistic combat forces.

is it possible to have events triggered by bb?

AFAIK, it's not possible to have anything triggered by bb. I might have to check on that when I get home though. Thanks again for the feedback.

Itr's true that the diffirence in costs between specialized devisions like Artilliry or guards is much more expensive proportionally than regular or irregular infantry. However ,IMO jacking up the costs of low quality devissions will only hurt the small and poor countrys.
IMO the quality and value's of Specialized devissions should be jacked up a bit but they should still be expensive ,however the quality of a Artillery that for ex. costs $100 should be better in quality than 2 regular devissions of each $50 and thus that artillery brigade should win that 1 against 2 fight.
So jack up the quality for specialized devisions ,ad severely lower those of regulars and deffinatly of irregulars.

Thx for the new version Mozart ,ill give it some tests and post my remarks later.

By the way, for anyone curious, I am currently cooking up some ways to simplify the unification process as well as adding a series of events which gives Siam the chance to become civilized.

I am especially curious to hear how everyone feels about the changes I made to slow down the colonial powers.

Siam is probably the last nation I will add civilization events for. As I said earlier, if anyone would like to make a case for any other nation, I have an open ear.

I'm very excited about the modified Italian Unification events I created. Just to give you guys an idea of what to expect, I saw AI Italy form two games in a row now.

You should expect the next version to be out in just a few days. There is just a little more testing that I want to get in.

Would you care to head over to the VIP forum and post your Italian events in the Italy thread? I have posted mine there but noone seems interested in italian unification ATM.

Changing the need or Wine and Liquor

I download and installed the lastest comm mod and it worked great. I just wanted to add that I changed the input of the Wine from .25 glass to .25 lumber. I did this not out of desperation that there was not enough glass being produced but because I thought it better reflected historical needs.

I am also going to replace glass for liquor but will add .10 glass back to reflect that majority of liquor was shipped in wooden caskets but some glass was also used.

Again thanks for the great work.
