to slow down factory construction by capis, raise their taxes so that they are producing less per day in reserves. You can use the rich taxes like a speed control in that sense, lower if you want to give the capis a boost to build things, higher if you want to slow them down to a managable rate that keeps pace with your economy.

You can use the tariff slider this way as well, however it affects all POPs money, not just the rich, so if you set it too high your lower and middle POPs might not be able to fill their everyday and luxury needs, which if they can produces a constant -0.05 and -0.03 MIL per year respectively.

As for Italy, send a diplomatic option to form an alliance. Note though that even at +200, if you have been a warmonger and have significant badboy, you'll be about as popular as a leper, and may very well get refused in your courtship.

and to check badboy hit F12 which opens the console, type badboy and hit enter, and the score will pop up. Hit F12 again to close the console.

This thread is the final piece of evidence I needed: Victoria is now officially more addictive than cocaine.

Oh, and whether or not you can build factories is determined by your party: Laissez Faire: Can't build, but factories are cheap for Capitalists. Interventionism: Can upgrade factories, factories not as cheap for Capies, State Capitalism: Can build factories, very expensive for Capies. State Control: Capies can't build, you can.

I just got this yesterday and it seems very much to be the type of game I'd love, but it is pretty baffling to a new player... and no tutorial. Is there any one abailable online? I havent read all of the manual yet, does that do the job of a tutorial?

No, but with a bit of work it can be turned into some decent toilet paper. :D

There is a Brazil Walkthrough on VikyWiki (here ) that will make the game so much easier to understand (and help with the learning curve)

As Japan, you're better off with that State Capitalist party, as your Capitalists don't make enough money yet to be buliding factories and railroads on their own. Be sure to research (or buy off of a civilized nation) Publishing Industry, as it gives you 5 machine parts for free, after that try to acquire Mechanical Production as it gives you further 5 free machine parts, and last tech you should be aiming for is Interchangable parts, but by the time it is available, you should have acquired at least 200 prestige, which should be enough for you to start buying machine parts from World Market.

and lower the taxes for the middleclass so the capitalists can come in more?

Middle class taxes don't have anything to do with Capitalists. Early game, till circa 1850-1860 you can keep all your taxes at 50%, but in the later half of your game you will be making enough money to lower your tax rates at around 33%.

and.............how can i divide citiziens and forge them together?

Does this apply to the invader?

Yeah, the controller (not owner) of the province gets the modifier. So, even if a rogue Austrian unit invades Russia, and makes it all the way to Moscow, takes control of the city, then gets totally encircled, and Russia takes back all their land, to the Austrian border... that Austrian unit still gets the Moscow railroads working for his benefit. Probably wouldn't matter much, since attrition would be so bad, though.

So, as Russia (for example - or anybody else I guess), building railroads is a double-edged sword. When you're being invaded, it makes the attacker have more difficulty, in order to take every province where there's a RR. But, when you retake the offensive and seek to vanquish the invaders from your lands, it's a harder road to walk, since the enemy is using your RR's defensively, all the way back to the border.

Generally, as the game progresses, attacking gets more and more difficult (to get an edge). RR's are just one of the reasons.

AoE said:
It's quite easy.

In the EUG. Files, You'll see

startdate = {
year = 1836
month = january
day = 0
}
enddate = {
year = 1936
month = january
day = 0
}

You just need to change the end date to whatever you like.

I hope this does the trick.

The same was with me. I found the first paradox game (HOI 2), when I was fully engaged in the Rome total war game. I thought the game was the same type as Rome total war.

Well the first thing when i came into the game was how to get into a fcking WAR!!!. Which is quite hard in 1936 for a beginner. Well I have defeated France quite fast (With Austrian help). But I was surprised that nothing really happened, no battles or so (RTW type).

But with time i was beginning to get used to paradox games which are now constantly installed on my computer (Atleast one). And they are the best (Mostly because there are unlimited possibilities how to play trough+ it is very easy to edit the game and to make it how you like it).

sounds like either you lack the resources needed to convert them (hover your mouse over the darkened out button, it will say what is missing)

If you are playing a multiethnic state and the clerk is not one of your national cultures, and you do not have full citizenship as part of your ruling party's policies, you'll not be able to convert the POP either. Minorities living in full states can only be converted to other POP types if you have a full_citizenship party in power. Minorities living in colonies can not be changed at all.
