Let's mod EU to Victoria, 1492 on, as Vicky seems like a much richer engine on which to base the modern era represented by the EU series. We already have lots of leaders, monarchs, events, etc. from which to create a scenario. So, how 'bout it?

That's exactly what I was asking in the A Free America scenario thread. I got a positivce answer from the mods. The engine should allow for european colonization à la 1492-1760.

Even without terra incognita or placing new colonies on empty land, 1492 starting scenario would propably be possible by dividing the whole americas to indians.

I think it would be most inteeresting ,and have expressed that oppinion in other thread's around here.

An only think i'm worried about though is the date system for the game. It's designed for a 100 years timeframe (devided in month's) ,so maybe it wouldn't be easy to stretch those 100 years to 400 years and still have a correct date system.
However ,in EUII and unlimited time patch has been made ,it maybe could be done for Vicky to ,but then ,givven thaty a vicky game would take for it's 100 years of play an equeal time as for EUII a 400 year period ,then with an unlimited time patch and EUII mod for vicky might take 4times longer to complete than a regular EUII game.

I think at the very least the 18th century could be modelled better than in EU 2.

definatly agree.

the 18th century is actually the 1700's if i'm correct, and i can't recall any mention of factories being built in the 1700's. so, unless you want to make a bunch of new technologies, sort of like pre-industrialization techs, then i think EU actually works better as an engine for everything except units and warfare.

Hundreds of factories were built in the eighteenth century.

You also have the "manufactorization" of France. I think the snag really is the exploration. If you make a 1419 start, what advantage will Portugal have, for instance? Everyone knows the new world, everyone knows the sea route to India.
