i don't think vic should have giants wandering around. not with what they're doing with the map. it would feel like a godzilla movieRight? Imagine CK 3 had animated combat as two castles shooting arrows at each other... ;D

That's why battle formations varying in size and support companies seem to be the most popular optioni don't think vic should have giants wandering around. not with what they're doing with the map. it would feel like a godzilla movie
I believe many old players and fans will agree to see military models representing military units appear in the game. Because the previous works of paradox are so excellent, there is no reason to abandon the excellent tradition. If in front of games without military models at all, new players who have not even played Victoria 2 may also feel the following "this is the battle picture? That's all? Is this a boring pure business city simulation game?"I get the feeling we will not get animated line formations battling it out.
Instead we’ve only seen what looks like animated yet static buildings shooting at each other. This is a real let down for the immersion of the game, especially considering how all other aspects of the game are very immersive such as the railroads, ships and buildings.
I am really hoping they eventually add tiny armies of men fighting each other, not saying we control them, but they represent the progress of the battle the generals are conducting.

As an old fan of Victoria, I really can't agree that there is no military model in this game!! There is no soldier model in paradox game!! oh my god
In fact, Godzilla movies are very popular, just as paradox games have always been very popular. I'm curious. Paradox almost all games of the same type are full of Godzilla with guns as you said Then why have you been playing paradox games in the pasti don't think vic should have giants wandering around. not with what they're doing with the map. it would feel like a godzilla movie
not for the godzillas. it doesn't bother me in CK cos the scale of wars are smaller there/then.In fact, Godzilla movies are very popular, just as paradox games have always been very popular. it would be cool if your military model scales in relation to the other in size in terms of troops size and that the dominant type of troop is represented in the model.. see a big guy with pitch fork and rice hatI believe many old players and fans will agree to see military models representing military units appear in the game. You're right. We need to replace the animated bunkers with big rocks! One of the charm of paradox game is that the map can reflect the feeling like a military sand table. And has anyone ever seen a sand table without a military model on it? That's meaningless!
As an old player, I highly disagree with this. The board gamey feel of having a gigantic unit walking around was just silly and distracting in recent Paradox games. And with the way Victoria 3's warfare system is set up, so is having a bunch of small units in a formation wandering around. The way they've set up the graphics for the battles is good for showing visually that a battle is occurring without having any more distracting elements on the map.I believe many old players and fans will agree to see military models representing military units appear in the game. Also, IMO, having smaller units moving around the map slightly implies that the combat happens at that scale instead of being abstracted. And would probably require much more effort to look nice too.As an old player, I highly disagree with this. I'd like to plug a proposal I made earlier, that units accumulate on the map in the leadup to a battle (and then vanish afterwards). In that case you could place troops in the exact province(s) under contention, and then you'd see the armies and borders shift after each battle. Also, IMO, having smaller units moving around the map slightly implies that the combat happens at that scale instead of being abstracted. That seems to be the devs' main concern, specifically the performance impact of large numbers of animated people.Unless the performance concerns of small units/formations are crippling I don't see why they should be excluded based on that principle.
I've made the conscious to try to steer clear from actual little humans running around, in part due to the already tweaked scale we have for a lot of things in game but also due to the performance cost of animations of non-rigid objects like humans.
Well, this gives "Victoria 3 confirmed!" a whole new meaningVERY LAST MONTHLY UPDATE VIDEO?
DOES THIS MEAN.......
