In this video there is a very small icon of a shoe next to acceptance level of Bosniak aristocrats in Ottoman Empire, I assume this means Bosniaks are discriminated?

In Ottomans AAR the country started with "Cultural Exclusion" and "State Religion" law, so probably all Balkan cultures are discriminated, even when Sunni.

Cultural Exclusion is most liberal after multiculturalism (I think) tolerating all cultures with which they have ANY similar trait, so I hoped that mysterious trait could be something Turks have in common with Balkan Muslims. I thought that maybe that could be joint religion (i saw some info on discord that each culture has religion attached, looked very weird but they shared some screenshots if i remember right).

I think the Bosniaks at least should get some shared trait with the Turks, or else you might as well represent Bosniaks as just Muslim Serbs if they aren't going to differ in culture.
I guess they can have different religious taboo as separate cultures.

They are discriminated for being Bosniak but not for being Sunni. So compared to an Orthodox Serb, Sunni Bosniaks are less discriminated.

I wonder how significant the difference here will be. Like, who is more accepted - Bosnian Sunni or Arab (Arabs must be accepted under this law) Shia. I think should be the first one. And it definitely would be super ahistorical if it was like Bosnian Sunni has less rights than Arab Christian.

There are no levels of discrimination. A pop is either:
- fully accepted, when both its culture and religion are accepted by the government
- fully discriminated, when either its culture or religion (or both) are discriminated by the government

Sunni Bosniaks, Orthodox Serbs and Orthodox Turks are all equally discriminated against.

If so, it is pretty terrible. But explanation makes sense, I guess. I hope they change it at some point.

Ah yes that’s true. A pop is always discriminated against until both culture and religion are accepted. I was thinking of Imperator Rome which arguably has a better system.

Yeah I agree with this, IIRC a good number of Ottoman Grand Viziers were Albanian and Bosniak. Though tbf I have no idea if that was in this timeframe, maybe Turk supremacy had become more pronounced.

Either way Bosniaks and Albanians are yet another argument in favor of a middle ground class of "Tolerated" cultures/religions. Either that or shared religion should count as a shared cultural trait for the purposes of discrimination, because Bosniaks being just as discriminated as Greeks or Serbians is an example of a big flaw in the discrimination system. You could even have a law in the discrimination laws that is something like "Shared Religion" which is just Cultural Acceptance but counts shared religion as a shared cultural trait.
I think the Bosniaks at least should get some shared trait with the Turks, or else you might as well represent Bosniaks as just Muslim Serbs if they aren't going to differ in culture.
