It would be great if Vic 2 would last a little bit longer. This great game is ending to early, it feels to fast rushing by

As many have pointed out, 1936 is the start date of HOI3, so there's little point in simulating the period beyond 36 with the military (especially airpower) model at hand

Having said that, you can always mod your game to last as long as you wish, tinker with the RP-gain and you can make the tech fit any timeframe.

Thanks God! That's the best part so far :)

EDIT: I hope you include the new systems main functions into the lua as well for better moddability.

For a bit I was confused there until I remember defines is a .lua in this :) Yeah, there's quite a few values exported here.

Ive never really gotten this explanation, given that the last startdate is 1861, the world wont reflect that of HoI3. It could easily run an additional decade of two without necessarily needing new mechanics. And the military isnt everything anyway.
Maybe a extra line of technology or something. Or even remove the end date entirely and have it run till it breaks or you want to start anew, though that would need alot more technologies just to keep things changing on all fronts. Maybe technologies that decreased things then followed by technologies that increased them again. That way you wouldnt run into too many problems of excess as things would cycle if new techs brought things back to 1830s level then back up again you could theoretically put in a couple centuries of techs without surpassing the levels the game was designed for, and thatd probably keep things uncertain as leading nations would fall behind.
But i do agree that thatd be something best left for a mod.

As to the expansion, one thing ive been wondering, will there be an offical frontpage listed thread for the announcement or will that hold off until the first DD or something?
Not an important thing, ive just noticed that theres people who havent noticed this yet.

Any chance for fixing the Jingoism points / diplo actions bottleneck, which is currently preventing WCs?

Or otherwise, if you want to avoid any thoughts of WCs - maybe block the possibility of Fast growing by eating up China - eg. By some max non accepted cultures factor, combining infamy with population or further strengthening Chinese Empire.

This seems better suited for modding. The game should be tailored for a more organic approach, not necessarily min-maxing etc. You're free to mod/change system defines (or whatever it is) that controls adding wargoals, diplo point gain, yeah?

If people want Vicky 2 to be longer, then I think pushing back the start date would be a far better option than touching the end date. Considering what the mechanics cover, something as early as 1784 should work. That is when Britain began its industrial revolution, and the USA won its independence. I'm actually surprised the game starts as late as 1836. I mean, I guess it fits the name of the game better, but it seems like an absolute waste of potential.

As a Navy fan, I'm really looking forward to the new naval combat system.

I would be happy if the game would take longer than until 1936 (or after 1900 hours counter as in HoI). Because I find dreadnoughts very interesting.

My understanding was that the game start was pushed back earlier, to 1836, to allow for Texas to exist as an independent nation at the start, going back to V1.

I think the farthest it should be pushed back is when south america has successfully won it's indepedence from the other states, since that time point would mean that Spain still has control over those areas.

Yes and no.

Yes because i can imagine modding the game all around and changing all, but eg. Me - i would never Really Bother - i would rather have a playable game Here and now.

No because i think that a good game shall foresee certain dinamics, like early, mid and final stages of certain possible goals, like WC. In early stage the big issue is lack of army, but it's OK. In mid stage it's infamy, but it's OK as well. The only problem is in the final stage, when artificially defined diplo and jingo limits are pointlessly Killing the fun, preventing from reaching the WC.

An earlier start date is impractical since the farther you go back, the sparser the data used for POPs becomes. Something like 1820 might work, but not much earlier. There might be enough census data for let's say 1800, but the problem there is that starting in the Napoleonic Era is not very ideal with large parts of Europe at war.

One question. What will this expansion bring in context of gameplay? Because I feel in vanila like, I'm just observer. There is not much to do, except click away annoying event spam (I hate events with passion). Actually playing the game brings nothing over watching it on youtube. (That's why I didn't bought first expansion.) It may seem like trolling, but believe me. I'm not. I would really like the answer. I like the games with complex system, but there has to be something, that I can influence (So it is a game not a movie).

Hmmm...I find myself constantly fiddling with taxes to keep POP needs met at the right amount without too great a sacrifice in revenue, tinkering with NFs to keep them where most needed, checking on economic output to prioritize tech research, checking to see who is happy/unhappy or getting too self-aware...there is a lot to do.
