Victoria 2 - 3.04 BETA PATCH - Merry Christmas!

It's hectic days due to GDC coming up, so Dan and Martin are very busy. They will get on it as soon as they can spare the time however. Since it's not a project with active funding they need to prioritize Stellaris and HoI4. I'll keep reminding them to make sure they don't forget about this though

I saw this patch back at Christmas and it made me marvel at the incredible long tail of support you give your games. (The eu2 patch with the ck1 converter is probably still the best)

Cogs turned in my head and I started playing it again recently only to realise I didn't have it installed as still beta.

Indeed, it was the contrast of Creative Assembly's terrible support of their Total War games compared to Paradox's seemingly endless patches for an ever-more-perfected EU2 that really sold me on their games, even though I far prefer turn-based strategy with real-time combat over Paradox's attempts at real-time strategy (in particular, the silly ways that the combat isn't "real time", with naval battles lasting weeks instead of hours).

The AI in patch 3.04 never seems to get involved in any wars and in the end I start nearly all of them....it really just isn't fun anymore. Is there any way to make the AI much, much more aggressive without installing mods?

I would recommend setting the AI aggression variables in the defines.lua file to 15 and 20 respectively. That seems to increase the number of wars though it makes playing uncivs pretty hairy......GB and Netherlands just both DOW'd me(Japan) for Malaya lol....

HoI3 on the other hand...

It's not "Empire" or "Fall of the Samurai" bad, but it's definitely a spot so black that it's hard to make out what it's even supposed to be.

No. I get plenty of nationwide events that were promised in the notes. Elections in democracies are far more interesting now (I managed to scam 28% jingoism thanks to national election events at one point).

It's much better than before, though. Moral Crusaders almost destroyed my will to play the game.

It's as much as you're going to get for the time being. Who knows what July may bring? It was never an "official" patch anyway. I think it was more like stress-relief from the HOI4 project (at the time).

Updating depends on whether you have Steam or non-Steam version of the game.
