thanks Paradox for the patch. Yes life is harder in 1.02, but thats fine for me. People are used to play Vicky like a RTS where you conquer all it seems.

Note : as Spain in 1836, with revolt everywhere, I was already making 120 £ a day. What do you want more? To have railroads in all provinces and a 500 k army in 5 years?

It's ridiculous that people are complaining that the minor or primitive nations are unplayable, simply because they aren't as powerful as the great powers. Remember, this was the age of EUROPEAN colonization, so don't be suprised that South American or African nations aren't on the mainstage.

Agreed. I like the fact that industrialization is more difficult after 1.02.

Many thanks for this early Christmas gift Paradox... As I said earlier, now I know what I'll be doing during the holidays!

And now, for the obligatory odd Christmas greeting in an obscure language:
God Jul allihopa!

It's actually just as ridiculous that you believe that those who are not 100% satisfied with the patch are simply just the people who equate being playable with being as powerful as the great powers. There's a little thing called having a "sustainable economy" which doesn't imply that at all (being as powerful as the GPs), not by a longshot.

So in other words, when the game allows every nation of even middling power to colonize, it is to be criticized for being historically innaccurate, but when it only lets wealthy countries colonize (which is what historically happened), it is to be criticized for being unbalanced?

No, when it lets wealthy nations completely colonize the whole would in an increadably short period of time "it is to be criticized for being unbalanced". They basically took the majority of constraints off of colonization, but only if you are a big gun with tons of money.

When "moderate" powers, those 10 below "GREAT POWER", are a total joke it should be criticized. Or they should just write in BIG BOLD LETTERS, THIS GAME IS ONLY PLAYABLE BY A FEW GREAT POWERS.

I'm not quite sure what you mean here. It is not too difficult for minor powers to balance their budgets, & generally speaking they shouldn't be embarking on colonial adventures anyway. How exactly are they a "total joke"?

I feel really dumb. With 1.02, I can not find the auto assign workers to RGO check box. Where is it hiding? Thanks

Am I the only one that got bored of 1.01 after some hours just because it was to easy? I think 1.02 was a huge step forward and I lreally look forward to see what the next patch willl do for the game.
Keep up the good work Johan!

I'm with Windoze.

Oddly enough I think 1.02 needs to be harder. I'm 8 years into a game right now. All of England and Prussia and most of France has railroads. All of Aftrica is covered with posts and missions (including many from the Netherlands and Russia). Perhaps I've got my dates wrong but this seems too early for both of these events.

Clearly it doesn't need to get harder for the medium or minor nations but that's another post.

Minor Countries Ought To Be More Difficult

Gellert said:
well if so, then there needs to be some guide for us people that are not so smart. I believe that 1.02 is a step in the right direction, but still to difficult with countries like Denmark...

I agree with Gellert that some sort of guide and more documentation is definately needed for VICTORIA to make it easier to get into -- to understand how the world works.

I also agree with Gellert that 1.02 is a step in the right direction specifically because it ought to be hard to take a smaller nation and make it into a world power. Running a large nation shouldn't be all that easy -- look at the smash ups we have had with Major Powers during this time period.

Which is why I really do not understand the current hue and cry that 1.02 somehow spoils VICTORIA. I think 1.02 is a major step in preventing billion person empires and 1,000 division armies during this time period.
