Anyone here recommend any MODS for Vicky?

I want one along the lines of Super AI/CORE, you know, improving the game as a whole. Any ideas?

I heard about VIP, anyone think it's good?

Vicky Mods, hmm let me think, I would recommend Dark Knight. ;)

Vicky mods, on the other hand, VIP is the main contender.

Indeed, downloaded VIP.

I cannot seem to find Dark Knight, unless you've used a pun of some sort.

Myself, I'd recommend Johnny Canuck :D

But seriously; VIP is definately worth checking out if you feel comfortable with the game mechanics in general and are ready for the magitude of events and whatnot that VIP offers.

Other interesting Vicky projects worth looking into include (but not limited to) EU2Vic, "The Worldwide Era of Peace" and a whole host of others you can find in the modding-forum.

Since I frequent the VIP forum, the Mod I salute is Generalisimo. :)

(And yes, Castellon was making a pun - Dark Knight is the Victoria foums Moderator, while VIP is the modification of the Vic game files.)

They were talking in terms of moderators and not modifications in case you're still curious. Dark Knight is a moderator here.

He is one of the moderators of this forum. Mods with a capital letter means moderators while mods without a capital means mods.

EDIT: Wow, we all posted descriptions of the same thing within 4 minutes :D

Never quite got under the skin of Mod Franchil; anyone know what it's all about? Automagically translating the French page describing it didn't do it justice, I think.

The "mod Franchil" is a french mod for Vic. It has a lot of events but especially events that have direct effect in the game. It has events to obtain WW1 in 1914.
I prefer VIP but 600 players use it. ;)

"600 players use it", meaning 600 people actually play it (fairly) regularly, or it has been downloaded 600 times? ;)

The page seems to declare it to be the greatest and most realistic mod for Victoria; can it back that up, e.g. compared to VIP?

What is the difference between an event that has a direct effect in the game, and one that doesn't, BTW?

I'm asking, because I'm curious exactly as to what it is and how different a game it makes; however, I'm guessing that all events and text is in French, making it more than a bit inaccessible for my meager French skills.

At the beginning, it was only few missing events in the vanilla (Alaska sale...) but it become with time a mod. All is in french but it's largely an events mod.
It has less modifications in economic system and techs than VIP.
For direct effect, it's that there isn't events with +1 in militantism or consciousness...

I prefer VIP but it's in my sig to permit french players to choose.

Hello,
i'm the creator of the Franchil's Mod and it's a pleasure for me to present it here! I just hope that you will be able to understand my very bad english... :)

Firstly, i must precise you that (for the moment) the Franchil's Mod is only in french!
That's not my first experience in modding, i have already made many events for an old french mod for HOI, but with Victoria i have realised that this game have a great potential, not exploted by the Vanilla.
I had tooken a look on VIP and it didn't correspond to my vision of modding, and there wasn't a french version! :)
That's why i decided to make my own mod, expecialy for all poor forgotten francophones.
Although the Franchil's Mod exists just since 4 months, i'm very happy of its sucess because, like i have constated it in sondages, it's used by a majority of francophones gamers!

Like you know, first versions of the Franchil's Mod were more addition of events, but quicky i and some friends we have change more and more things, and finally the version 1.5 of the Franchil's Mod (which will be downloadable this week) represents now more than 22 mo of creations and modifications for Victoria.
We have modified all the colonisation system, states' limits, ressources production (with the price, the output, the input...), techno cost, the ias, the graphic interface, and more than all the EVENTS!

These events are things that i'm prouder, and they are the strong points of the Franchil's Mod! That's why i pretend that it's the most complet Mod ever made for Victoria, and that's the only mod which includes all the historical events (and historicaly possible events) of the victorian period!
But the real difference with the mod Vip, is that Franchil's Mod includes only events witch are susceptibles to have significative consequences on the evolution of a country in the game.

For example, the Franchil's mod is the only mod which contains events of the World War One in a Great Campaign, and they take more than 300ko!!!

That's all! See you soon... :)

PS: To wait the Version 1.5 of the Franchil's Mod, if you speak french and if you want to have some more informations you can take a look on the page of the version 1.4 here:

How do you do it? IMHO, enforcing a WW1 in the GC sounds very deterministic, depending on how it's done. Will shots be fired in Sarajevo, even if Ethiopa has conquered all of Europe, or have you solved it less rigidly? (I'm guessing the latter, if you have "300 kbs" for it ;) )

Well, there's little else to be said about VIP....some people like it, others prefer to play with other MODs, or with none at all, that's perfectly understandable. This won't change even after 0.4 is released.

As for Franchil's Mod, it seems interesting in it's own right, especially if it has managed to include the 1st World War in a sensible manner, and it's pretty likely that French-speaking players may prefer it over VIP.

Can't really judge it as I haven't tried it (my French is pathetic.... :eek:o ), but I suppose that its different design philosophy will carry its own advantages and drawbacks, just like VIP's does.

Don't worry, i often make events, and my first goal when i do it is to make the most perfect trigger i can, because in paradox's games i have seen too much events made with incompleted trigger.

And that's the reason why the ww1's events of the Franchil's Mod are so big! ;)
But they aren't deterministic, that's why they are so complexe!
In fact, if the crisis between austria and serbia broke up, these events can creat a local war (just between serbia and austria), a great war, or THE World War. It depends on the alliance game, because each great country has to determine his position (choice A historical intervention, Choice B not)...
