I've fixed the offending script so it now no longer fires the event if a player country who is not in a faction with Germany, but is at war with France, controls any French territory (barring Corsica). Your unfortunate sacrifice was not in vain! :) It'll be in for the next update (when MtG is released).

However, one thing puzzles me. The event already has a check for Paris being controlled by Germany. If Paris isn't controlled by Germany, the event cannot fire. But you said you controlled it and it did fire anyway? That should be impossible, judging by the script.
