Is it any useful? Tariffs are my main source of income, so i chose this idea as the 6th idea. I thought i would get a 33% increase in tariffs, but when I check the monthly balance, the income is not changed. Am I wrong? What does viceroys exactly do?

I think it just means that you only need 2/3 of the required big/large ships ... say 67% so that the Viceroy Idea makes it 100%.

Probably good for a huge colonial empire that cannot or does not want to maintain a huge navy.

But in that regard, it seems to be a rather underpowered NI.

oh i see, however I have my naval support at 95% and after viceroys, it remained at 95%, it did not go to 100%. Maybe it's just not shown? If that is the case, I will choose something else, the idea is simply not useful since colonial empire need huge navies anyways and navies are cheap for naval powers

No, viceroys is added to the tariffs.

So if sea-lanes give you +100%, then viceroys add 33% (if you have dw), full naval another +25%, trading in slaves +25% etc.

The income numbers only update on the first of the month. If you just took the idea it won't show up yet.

Viceroys are added to the tarrifs, but not into tarrifs effenciency... As tariff effenciency is needing enough big ships. So it is not shown in the income overview, but maybe in province it is shown, i dunno. Anyway it it quite good, aspecialy if ur full naval, and trading in slaves, you can get much tarrifs. Just wonder, if you can or cannot get more from tarrifs than from normal production... Such thing should have been checked.

Having a land connection to your capital will always result in a higher total income as near as I have been able to tell. If for no other reason than the 10x higher census tax.
