There isn't one.

You can build different *kinds* of transports - but if I had to hazard a guess the issue is less the transports themselves and more the fact that you've probably got some really low range ship mixed in with them. The higher tier transports (landing craft, assault ships) do have slightly increased range however.

There are only 2 techs that specifically relate to transport/LC/AS behavior - and those 2 techs only increase their defense and the speed at which they offload during invasions - carrying capacity and range are fixed.

This is false. As some of you may already know I am limiting myself to repeated playtroughs using 4 countries because I do not want to burn out my enjoyment by speedrunning every nation. I believe leaving countries for later gives huge replay value.

With France and Japan, wether or not I start a custom game, most naval techs are already investigated. And thus transports have a carry capacity of 100. With Netherlands and Finland I always use a custom game in which I do not touch navy tech at all, and transports always start with a carry capacity of 40.

So either I have conflicting mods, or trouble reading, or there is something adding +20 carry capacity per level of tech. I would place my bet on the latter but who knows :D
