Do you realize just how much has to be fixed in Victoria? If 1.04 was done any sooner then the fall, it would either be Johan working triple time or they decided to forgo the much needed overhaul. I am glad they are taking their time and doing this right as anouther patch may never come.

Off the top of my head:

Things despretely needing fixing:

1) Wooden Ships sticking around
2) AI taxing it's pop's to death
3) RGO's emptying
4) Factories given too much weight

There are more but those are the biggies and each could require massive debugging to fix

I do not think they have delayed it becasue they need to fix moore. They simply sn't working on it. They are probably spending time on Diplomacy, HoI2 1.3 and CK 1.05. I think it will be released maybe in six months at best and even then it won't fix every thing.

Of course I hope I am wrong. It would be nice to hear some words from Johan...

I´ve always felt Victoria being the abandoned child of Paradox.
Even when it was still quite new there were more patches for EU2 and HOI done then for Victoria.
And now as it gets older and CK and HOI2 were released, it seems like there is absolutely nobody working on Victoria any longer.

As a beta recently brought into Victoria betatesting in the past month I can guarantee you there is work currently being done on it. But as tyrel68 says there are some deep issues being worked on. Progress is however being made.

As I am only one of over a dozen + betas that will not likely be happening - plus what purpose would there be for a VIP if vanilla became a clone.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but, as I've said every time the subject of 1.04 has come up, there has never been an ETA for this patch.

You can tax your Poor population 100 percent and get away with it but, as their plurality increases, they will start to revolt unless you lower their taxes and/or give them benefits. Lower taxes also help attract immigrants, I believe.

What I would REALLY like to see is an automatic system for building railroads and promoting POPS to Craftsmen and Clerks. You could almost get a repetitive motion injury clicking on all the POPs in Russia or China when you want to promote them to fill your factories.

What I'd like is a player-defined algorithm that will do things like demobilize small Soldier POPs-- almost useless for manpower but able to staff factories or even RGOs-- when excess manpower is available, and automatically promote Laborer and Farmer POPS of certain ranges to Craftsmen and Clerks when there are open factory slots. It could then be enabled on a province basis (or enabled for all, and then disabled for certain provinces) because you don't want to remove your sulphur miners, for example.

Also, I think international law forbade the granting of military access so one country could attack another; if you let an army march through your country to attack your neighbor, you became a party to the war yourself. The same goes for expeditionary forces; you shouldn't be allowed to send them unless you are actually at war with the country they are to attack. (Or if you do, it gives that country a casus belli on you.)

Well, if we're on that topic...
Things i'd like to see
1) Violating neutral territory. You know, like when Karl XII of Sweden marched on Dresden without asking the Habsburgs for permission to go through Silesia.
2) Clean up the mess with colonial wars; either remove the feature or make them escalate.
3) Ordinary factory floor workers turning socialist, when socialism comes. Why the heck would they be liberal? it's practically the least realistic ideology for them. I'm sick and tired of these steel mills full of proponents of laissez-faire capitalism; i doubt you could have found a single 'metallo' opposed to market regulations.
4) Subsidising other nations' military buildups; what's the point of creating puppet states if you don't put the 'arm' in their army?
5) more effective naval blockades
6) AI nations who like you more if you have a governing party of the same ideology as theirs. If such an effect is already in the game, it needs to be seriously beefed up.

That said, i'm afraid that, commercially, Victoria may not be the goose that lays the golden eggs for Paradox; a real shame, because it's quite possibly their best game, but there you have it. It does seem to have received less patches.

7) Dynamic issues. I don't mind cultural minority pops with the 'limited citizenship' issue when the ruling party favours residence; but when the ruling party favours full citizenship and minority pops still want it limited, i ask myself "how many masochists migrated to my country?".

It would be a start if the right-click-demobilize option on page six in the ledger actually demobilized the pop. When I do that nothing happens (in contrast to demote to labourer for clergy, etc.).

I can't help but feel this is true. I know Paradox is a small company but Vickie really was a rush job and the patches have been very. very slow in coming.

As I stated above, patience will eventually be rewarded, but there are a lot (I emphasize again, a lot) of things still needing to be worked on. Consider, they would not decide to bring me in as a new beta for Victoria in the past month if they were completely shelving the project with no plans for future patches, would they? ;)

I'd like some nasty side-effects if you play ahistorically, like turning every POP in a province to one POP type or decreasing crime fighting to zero.

And I think education should be more expensive, both generally and it should also get more expensive as your literacy increases

It is all part of the conspiracy. You placate the masses so that we will wait patiently for the patch. You're working for the MAN and the MAN is keeping us down. It is all part of Johan's evil plan. Come to think of it, I haven't heard much from Johan since you came on board. I think you might be Johan in disguise. What's the capital of Ohio? Where do the Mudhens play? What is a Bearcat?
