Hello,

I'm only a noob with 150 hours (most of which date from last DLC release).
I'm experiencing unusually high losses in my carrier (4) planes although I have air superiority over the English channel as Germany (over 1K land based fighters with both air superiority and interception ON)

upload_2018-3-17_23-7-57.png

I'm getting reports like his very frequently.

Also here are my carrier wings settings

What might be the reason?

Thanks.

The enemy planes shot them down. Carrier planes always take huge losses when against any other carriers or land based planes. Which is why CVs are so good when you have a good stockpile of reserves. They often OBLITERATE land based airgroups when they join the battle, gaining you better results in the battle and in the air fight over the region.

Personally, I like to have the majority of my planes be fighters, if not all, especially when fighting in european waters due to how close they always are to big airfields. After watching some fights, even the fighters often do surprising amounts of damage to enemy ships and at least deorg them.

I don't think I'm following you here, your statement seems contradictory. Carrier planes take huge losses, but they obliterate everything? Could you elaborate more on CV aircraft behaviour please?

Oh! So even carrier fighters can deal damage to enemy ships? Good to know.

Well they do have stats in naval strike etc but yes, when it comes to cv's in general i always stay FAR away from them with the only exception being if i need to invade ( as a european nation ) abroad on sea that outranges my land based airbases and if i dont have intentions to do that i just stick to BB's instead.

On the OP's topic yes light fighters and naval planes take massive losses unless they have a vast upper edge in either tech, improvements on the planes or doctrines but it also highly varies depending on what they are fighting and their general objectives are, f.ex if you are fighting destroyers that is guarding convoys with high increase in AA ability yes you will get flakked quite a bit while if you are using them for air superiority in a sea region vs other carriers you are gonna have a better day at it.

It looks like you shot down about 50 of their land based planes for about 75 of your Carrier planes lost.

Any bombers that your own land based fighters shoot down are reported in the air statistics outside the battle ( and not counted here ) since they don't take part in the naval battle, but they still can reduce the damage enemy bombers can do to your ships.

Until the air is secure I recommend upgrading your Carrier fighters to have +5 engines and putting a bit more of them at the cost of having a few naval bombers less.

Interesting. I guess my results are weird then because my tech levels for carrier fighters are better than the enemys planes ?

Huge losses in general yes, But ive often had battles where my carriers lose say 75% of their fighters or something like that. But keep in mind that Carriers do not take even close to as many fighters in the earlier models as land airbases can field. So if you shoot down say 150 bombers or something that joined the battle, while losing around 80 or so figthers on the CVs, is that really a bad trade ?
