I trust RM Littorio, which will arrive in the next update, more then I trust those little Light Carriers. They will become useless soon, but when they become obsolote, I will be building real carriers.

I have very high hopes about RM Littorio. Dunno, I just love Battleships more then I love any other unit in the game.

I totally have the same feeling for battleships. Even though CVL's and CV's are better there is something about the beauty, elegance and ultimate power of a massive broadside of a BB that just can't be replaced.

With a good CVL and BB stack I think you can match up toe-to-toe with the Royal Navy in the Med.

Why don't you conquer some neighbour before ww2 begins?

They were speaking in English.. I think.

Well, conquering Yugoslavia and/or Greece is an option, but waiting is better. Not gonna risk a premature war with Allies and perhaps even Germany.

More technological advancements are made in Italy.

New production queue of Italy. Marines are built, as Mussolini gazes towards the east of Italy: Albania and Greece.

First division of tanks is built, and is sent to Northern Africa to be commanded by Mj. General Messe. Although a Mj. General, he will still command his original troops.

Dive Bombers enter to service.

More technological advancements are made in Italy.

A non-agression pact with Turkey expires.

More technological advancements are made in Italy.

An another tank division enters to service. Again, assigned to Mj. General Messe, the most promising commander in Regio Regio Esercito.

Three new infantary divisions are being built in Italy.

Meanwhile, Vice Admiral Zara is given the command of 1st Offensive Squadron, most modern and powerful squadron in Italy.

Elite Marine Corps are formed in Italy. They would be called 'Avanguardia', including only X Corps for now. Mj. General Scattini is the Commander-in-Chief.

More Dive Bombers arrive.

Most useless submariens in Regia Marina once again conduct an intelligence operation, far more succesful now. British presence seems to be higher, but not enough to stop an invasion of Egypt.

A non-agression pact with Greece expires. Greece is now in a worse situation.

Czechoslovakia was a country with great relations with Italy, but Italy did support Germany in Fall of Czechoslovakia.

More technological advancements are made in Italy.

Mussolini, encouraged by Germany's bellirgent actions, does something quite unexpected in the World, but expected in Italy: He sends an ultimatum to Albania. 'Surrender, or get crushed'. Albanians, showing an act of courage, or perhaps trusting Greece, Bulgaria and Yugoslavia, decline it.

Avanguardia conduct their first operation: Operazione Impero. Barerly existent resistance is easily crushed by well-trained marines. Italy scores it's second victory..

---

Think Paradox is being unfair on small countries. For example, Iran is a world power now.. But in the game, it's impossible to make Iran a strong(er) country.

Oh, and Avanguardia means Vanguard in Italian, according to my dictionary.

And TheVenetian, their elegance is not the only reason I love them, the battleships. They are more reliable. You can trust a battleship to fight good in night and/or bad weather!

He is probably in Greece right now, waiting to go to London.

Ahmet Muhtar Bey Zogolli was his birthname, intrestingly. A very Turkic name. Must be about Ottoman rule.

Regarding Iran.....in the era of WW2 they were just a conquered country of Britain.....and probably not very happy to be that.....I think they would have happily joined Germany or Italy against the Brits if they had the will and courage to do it in say 1939-1941.......

By the way....

I like this AAR....I have tried as Italy a couple of times and don't do too bad.....I find them very difficult to increase their IC, Navy, Army and Air Force by 1939....they just don't have as many IC's to get it all done...so something usually has to suffer (smaller Navy, Army, etc).

Keep up the nice work.

Albania had no army, right? A one militia division wouldn't be too much to ask. :D

KLorberau: Italy has only one trick needed to defeat British in Africa, and it's not an easy one.. Do not let them regroup in Alexandria! Alexandria's fortifications are really nasty for Italy to overcome aganist a big force.

I am in WW2 right now, and I can easily say, naval buildup is useless. I took care of only some transports, cruisers and destroyers. Was hoping for a challenge, but I guess it's about my timing. Wait for one or two more updates to see the action, which was pretty much fun.

Storm501: I completely agree. At least a militia division with half of it's str should exist.

"Soldiers, sailors, and aviators! Black shirts of the revolution and of the legions! Men and women of Italy, of the Empire, and of the kingdom of Albania! Pay heed!
An hour appointed by destiny has struck in the heavens of our fatherland.

The declaration of war has already been delivered to the ambassadors of Great Britain and France. We go to battle against the plutocratic and reactionary democracies of the west who, at every moment have hindered the advance and have often endangered the very existence of the Italian people.Recent historical events can be summarized in the following phrases: promises, threats, blackmail, and finally to crown the edifice, the ignoble seige by the fifty-two states of the League of Nations. Our consience is absolutely tranquil. With you the entire world is witness that Fascist Italy has done all that is humanly possible to avoit the torment which is throwing Europe into turmoil; but all was in vain. It would have suffieced to revise the treaties to bring them up to date with the changing needs of the life of nations and not consider them untouchable for eternity; it would have sufficed not to have begun the stupid policy of guarantees, which has shown itself particularly lethal for those who accepted them; it would have sufficed not to reject the proposal that the Fuhrer made on 6 October of last year after having finished the campaign in Poland.

But now all of that belongs to the past. If now today we have decided to face the risks and the sacrifices of a war, it is because the honor, the interests, the future impose and iron necessity, since a great people is truly such if it considers sacred its own duties and noes not evade the supreme trials which determine the course of history.

We take up arms to resolve, after having resolved the problem of our land frontier, the problem of our maritime frontiers; we want to break the territorial chains which suffocate us in our own sea; since a people of forty-five million sould is not truly free if it does not have free access to the ocean.

This gigantic struggle is nothing other than a phase in the logical development of our revolution; it is the struggle of peoples that are poor but rich in workers against the exploiters who hold on ferociously to the monopoly off all the riches and all the gold of the earth; it is the struggle of the fertile and young people against the sterile people moving to the sunset; it is the struggle between two centuries and two ideas.
Now that the die are cast and our will has burned ourships at aour backs, I solomnly declare that Italy does not intend to drag into the conflict other peoples bordering her on land or on sea. Switzerland, Yugoslavia, Greece, Turkey, Egypt take note of these my words and it depends on them
and only on them whether or not they will be rigorously confirmed.

Italians!

In a memorable meeting, that which took place in Berlin, I said that according to the laws of Fascist morality, when one has a friend, one marches with him to the end. This we have done with Germany, with its people, with its marvelous armed forces. On this eve of an event of century wide scope, we direct our thought to the majesty of the King and Emperor which as always has understood the soul of the fatherland. And we salute with our voices the Fuhrer, the head of great ally Germany Proletarian and Fascist Italy stands up a third time, strong, proud, and united as never before. The single order of the day is categorical and obligatory for all. It already spreads and fires hearts from the Alps to the Indian Ocean; Victory! And we will win, in order finally to give a long period of peace with justice to Italy, to Europe, and to the world.

People of Italy!

Rush to arms and show your tenacity, your courage, your valor!"

---

Veni, vidi, vici.

That went better then I expected. Oh, and Mussolini's speech is his IRL declaration of war.
