"What about the production?" said Vittorio Emmanuele III, King of Italy.

"Your Majesty, we are in dire need of raw infantary. France, one of our rivals, is not powerful enough to challenge us military wise, but Britan makes big problems." replied Benito Mussolini. Only reason he was adressing the short man standing infront of him as "Your Majesty" was traditions.. He was the actual ruler of Italy.



New infantary divisions are being created.

"What about the economy?"

"Your Majesty, we are the weakest of 'big seven', when talking about number of factories. But the Great Depression has effect weak democrats more then us. I suggest we take a more centralized stance in economics."

"Do it."

"What about the war in Africa?"

"So far, good. Marshal Balbo will report of it." Vittorio Emmanuele watched with slight amusement when he sensed the hatred in Mussolini's words. He never wanted to give Italo Balbo power.

"Technology?" said the King of Italy.

"We are currently trying to reach our rivals on sea and air. Also, we are improving our industry."

"This concludes my briefing, Your Majesty." Mussolini did not even ask for Vittorio Emmanuele III's permission. He was Italy.

Armata dell'A.O.I. HQ was busier then ever. Italo Balbo had finished the planning of invasion of Ethiopia. Italian people wanted a decisive victory, and Balbo would give them one. The plan would be called Primo Victoria, which stands for 'First Victory' in latin.

Denakil is captured, and after repelling a brief counterattack, Italians pusher deeper.



Battle of Dirê Dawa, a long battle with very few loses on Italian side. Many Ethiopians faced their deaths that day.

As the Battle of Ethiopia rages on, a reorganization starts on Mainland.

Courage of Ethiopians amazed Italians. They were literally throwing themselves on the marching armies.

Ferocity of the 'Imperial Guard' of Ethiopia was noticed in the battle, but even that wasn't enough.



After the Battle of Addis Ababa, Haile Selassie I tries to use his legendary charisma to end the war, no matter the cost. Even this deal is not enough to satisfy Italian people.

"What's your advice, Il Duce?" asked the short man.

"I say we crush their army. This will give our people the victory they were hungry for, and it will also break the fighing spirit of Ethiopians."

King nodded in agreement.

Haile Selassie I led Ethiopians in their last battle himself. They were outnumbered, outmanouvered and outgunned, but they still choosed to stand up.



Yet, tactics and technology chose the winner, not heroic charges. Haile Selassie I escaped by the heroic sacrifices of his Imperial Bodyguard. Resistance in Ethiopia was broken, and Primo Victoria was concluded.

This is my second AAR. Last one was short, but I can guarantee this will take longer, as now I am playing a bigger nation. I tried to improve it by every way I could, hope you will like it.

"Your Majesty, Marshal Balbo requests to have his troops out of Ethiopia. Although we have differences, I know he is right. We can't defend Ethiopia in a War aganist Allies, and I don't think we will fight aganist an another country. But, leaving it means partisans."

Vittorio Emmanuele III nodded. He wasn't the best politician in Italy, not even close to the man briefing him. But even he could see this.

"What do you offer, Mussolini?" he said.

"I say we leave our army there a little bit longer. Lower Ethiopia's population with our most preferred methods." For a man like Mussolini, such a decision was quite easy to take. Death of some Ethiopians can't be more important than the Fatherland, after all.

King nodded again. Although he didn't like the fact Mussolini is the true ruler of Italy, but he knew Mussolini was what Italy needed right now.

"Do you think Balbo would do this? He is just too... weakminded."

Mussolini grinned briefly, to himself. His co-ruler knew how 'uncapable' Balbo was. His doubts about sending Balbo to Libya surfaced again.. letting him, his worst rival, take the glory in case of a war with Britan, was wise?

"General Rodolfo Graziani will take the command of this... operation. I trust him."

He would take care of Balbo when needed.. He already had a replacement for him anyway.

After deciding to abondon Ethiopia, Italian industry shifts to reinforcing the navy instead of army.







Latest advancements in Italy.



Chinese, furious about Japan reinforcing of North China Army, decided it would be wiser to declare war on Japan before Japan declares war on them. Italy remains neutrual in this conflict, selling to both sides, as both have moderate relations with Italy and similar ideologies.



More advacements are made technologically.



Civil war errupts in Spain. Mussolini sends support for Nationalists. Corpo Truppe Volontarie, made of 50,000 Italians, would fight together with Franco's Nationalists.



With bigger industry, Italians start the creation of more ships.. Light Carriers this time. Although not enough to counter Britan's bigger carriers, they were Regia Marina's only choice.



More advancements.

I forgot to think about in game impact of pulling troops out of Ethiopia, but then I came out with some decision that fits Mussolini. Although something quite bad and unquestionably evil, I hope no one will get offended.

Ah an Italy ´36 AAR... Nice on although i prefer to play Italy in 38 because it´s a little more difficult to play, but that´s an other story...

Ah good old mussolini.
Of all the axis leaders he is the only one I have the slightest respect of.

Anyway great war light carriers? Is that wise?
I usually start with getting the 5th tech slot ASAP.
What is your strategy on this?

They were 1936 research,so I reserached 'em and started to build them.They should be "early".

Well,since I started this game,I've never built industry with countries that don't have full tech slots,with some exceptions..I see it as a waste of time.Don't have enough rare materials,and I don't like relying on trade too much anyway.My strategy is use of suprise: Reach Suez before British are able to use their superior industry.Not really sure what I am gonna do with Gibraltar without doing something too gamey.

As you may noticed,this is my first serious Italy game,so I am not really sure what I am gonna face.

I think you should try to create a puppet Abyssinia.
Would make it possible to conquer something from your east african base with getting supplies from them.

I know, I thought of making a treaty with them that makes them my puppet instead of invading them and destroying their army.But it really doesn't look like a decision of Mussolini!
