Art of War gives you already some influence on how the vassals behave during wars. Just add a 4th button: Do not join war.
An example: Vassal with high WE (10+), no manpower and the peasants war. It is much better if they do not join the war, so they can end the peasants war, get rid of the WE and recover manpower. I once made some mistakes and 4 vassal were in this situation with high WE and the peasants war. But i was totally fine and it would great if i can say to this vassals: Dont join this war, i will handle the war with my other vassals / allys.
