In my most recent game as Byzantium my vassals and allies (Bosnia, Serbia and Bulgaria) have been really awesome at this, charging at the rebels every time like there is no tomorrow. I believe that I did offer them military access to improve their opinion of me when I vassalized them, so you might want to try that and see if that makes any difference.

I think if you are having rebel problems, vassals should take advantage and declare independence. But hey, as it is now, vassals do usually come help kill rebels, at least in my experience.
Yesss...
I should make a mod that does this.

I'm actually more irritated by this not happening the other way round!

If I have a large empire then I don't always watch every inch of it and sometimes my vassals can have rebel problems and one of my rebel hunting stacks is standing in an adjacent province doing nothing! I would rather they fix that first so that rebel hunters will hunt down vassal rebels for you than look at vassals dealing with your rebels because, as others have said, for the most part they tend to do that anyway.

Allies and vassals usually help me (allies you need to give access rights to though, once in a Portugal game I had Spain protect all my Iberian provinces for the entire game, from external and internal threats).

What bothers me more is that MY armies when set to auto hunt rebells does not defend my vassals.
