In my current game as ERE I miraculously succeded in pressing the claim of prince of Egypt (before that he was naturally converted to one true faith), which resulted in Fatimids completely swallowed by ERE in the middle of 12th century. I even restored the kingdom of Abyssinia and gave it to Zagwes AND revoked the hell out of Sunni caliph and then gave him nice piece of land in Sennar: One-Natured God will have some fun, that's for sure (baboons!).

BTW After I revoked the kingdom of Egypt to clean up the province from infidels and install my orthodox-greek puppets from the motherland, I discovered that I was blessed with Mamlukes, who started to act like my Varangian guard - even after I gave that kingdom away. So at the moment I have two elite bodyguards units and it seems that Mamlukes are now attached to ERE.

Anyway, I'm wondering is it possible to vassalize those funny guys from Masyaf. I need to have complete control over duchy of Antioch in order to restore the Roman Empire, however I don't want to get rid of them completely - I've heard they spontaneously launch assasinations on Mongols, which would be very useful.

Issues:
1. Can't give them any land
2. Can't invite claimants to my court and press claims (False religion ------)
3. ????
4. PROBLEM

Is there any legit solution to this situation? I want my RE title but I would love to vassalize or at least spare the Hashashins (Masyaf is all they have).

*One more thing: mending the Schism is totally OP. With 80% chance of changing religion to orthodoxy after +/- 10 years only two kingdoms are still alive and catholic, Hungary (same dynasty as HRE) and Poland (I have no idea why) - every other was nuked by orthodox holy wars.

If they are unmarried you can have them marry your courtiers. Then they would move in with them, but you can invite your former courtier back and that would bring the claimant with them. I'm in the process of doing the same thing in my game.

this advice is awesome...

And I happen to have a county that I don't know what to do with lying around.

Welsh Hashashin are coming!

and considering that my genius, attractive and strong queen just went completely bonkers it'll be awesome.

(perhaps give the guy a Duchy as well, so that Hashashin becomes a secondary title and then assassinate him, making me the Hashashin)

edit: Is marrying muslims only an option for Orthodox characters? because the option to arrange a marriage was greyed out.

This should work for most titles, but when I looked at my diplomacy menu with the Hashashin I didn't see the claim title casus beli so maybe it doesn't work for holy orders.

What does it say when you hover over the arrange marriage?
