My friendly neighborhood MegaCorp is in trouble. They are bordering some nasty empires that want to gobble them up. They are asking me to take them on as a vassal, and I'm very much inclined to do so. However:

If I vassalize a MegaCorp, will their franchise buildings stay on my planets? Or will I lose them.

I read in some other posts that people can't build franchise offices in their subsidiary nation's planets. So, before I vassalize the MegaCorp, I wanted to be sure I'm not going to nerf my planets and wreck the MegaCorp's economy. I am wondering then, if it would be better to simply maintain a defensive pact, or if it franchise still work okay from vassals on their overlord's planets.

Megacorps can absolutely build branch offices on their subsidiaries, as long as the subsidiary isn't a megacorp too. I assume megacorp vassals can also have offices on their overlord's planets, provided the overlord isn't a megacorp.

You can't vassalize megacorps as a normal empire fairly sure.

You can vassalize them just fine as a normal empire. Their franchises will stay on your planets through a vassalization and they can still build new ones.

At least that was my experience with the friendly neighborhood criminal syndicate next door. Albeit I vassalized mine in a war, but I don't see how that should make a difference.

you just have to remove your offices before you can declare war to make them a subsidiary, then you can rebuild them.

There's a bit of loophole where if you have commercial pact with them before vassalization/being subject the pact will stay on and megacorp party can build franchise on others.

So, you shouldn't worry much. Just don't break the commercial pact.

I'm uncertain if your megacorp vassal can get new commercial pact, though. Since they won't be independent anymore, so can't form one.
