In my latest game I was playing HAB and in 1579, TOS and PAP have a relation toward TUR of -200. They are both vassals of TUR. TOS since 1426 and PAP since 1429. It seems to me, that they should have canceled the vassalization a long time ago. Maybe there is something wrong when two different religions are involved.

If the Ottomans are one scary big country it wouldn't be wise to incure the wrath of that country by cancelling the vassalization, that would be an immediate invitation to war and probably annexation. Now they just have to give some taxes to the Turk but can live a life on their own.

I just find it strange, because MOS will cancel its vassalization with STE very soon (STE is much bigger/stronger than MOS) and BRI cancels its v. with ENG after 2-3 years when their relation is too bad. And BRI is nothing compared with ENG.

From waht I've observed, country that have no chances of geting diploannexed will keep their vassalisation even if relations are at -200 for centiries, ex: what you are describing with TUR.
But if the possibility of diploannexio exist, they will break the vassalsihp with bad relations, ex : what you described with ENG.

Seems the AI has a survival instinct.
