ive been playing several games with the oct 31st beta. i think the ai's decision making on swearing fealty to a lord needs to be looked at. in particular after they break away from a liege. for example in my last game scotland began to fall apart. on one day two duchies of 3 provinces(nearly half the country) broke and declared war on the king of scotland. all sides were too weak from there war with england to make any headway against each other. yet within a matter of months both had resworn to the king of scotland.

i think perhaps the ai should be unable to swear to a lord they've broken from. i.e john duke of galloway breaks from duncan king of scotland. he should imo never offer vassalization to duncan again. now 15 years later ducan dies and his son bruce inherits. the ban would then be lifted.

in addition i think the ai should take into account relative power when offering vassalization it seems silly to me for a german duke(with power comparable to most kings) would reswear to a holy roman emporer weaker then many counts.

no... what your decribing is the way it was before... and that as you well know was leading to the total disintigration of the Christian kingdoms...

and as far as it goes... vassals declaring war on kings and then re-negotiating a peace was not that uncommon.... I like it the way it is now... makes the kingdoms more stable..
