Vassal feeding is back with the newest expansion of EU4 and as was said in stream it's WAD. You basically transfer occupation to your vassals and give them it in peace deals. It's even better than before since vassal can't say no to additional provinces(or so it seems for now). Marches can also fabricate claims. Discuss.

I for one welcome this change.

This sounds like a rather unintended buff. Because it would mean you could expand vassals with 0 AE or peacedealcost.

The whole idea of pressing Vassal CBs also helps this, if I've understood it right. Say you conquer an OPM as a pretty isolated religious group, and then release them as your religion, then do they get Holy War CB on all their neighbours? In which case you can just blob your vassal as much as you want!

I assume it would still cost in peace deals, as it does now. (At least, if an ally occupies something now, and you want to give it to them, there is still a diplo cost in the peace...)

2) Not sure what happens with AE... that is a reasonable point. (I'm guessing they will have it increase your AE a little, but if not, well, I'm ok with it.)

3) Since annexing costs diplo per base tax, I don't have an issue with vassal feeding. Back when annexing cost no MPs, feeding was quite OP.

It's WAD. In AoW you get AE(confirmed) and I think you also pay points for the vassal. If it's your ally he gets AE and points cost.

The whole idea of pressing Vassal CBs also helps this, if I've understood it right. !

Also vassals(marches and some normal vassals too) now can fabricate claims for liege to press.

I look forward to enjoying a massive vassal blobfest, unless they stealth introduce overlord AE for vassal conquests. If they were doing that, you'd think they'd have mentioned it, but you never know what they consider "important enough" to get a mention in the streams/dev diaries versus what just get left till the patch-notes.

Where did you hear that from? I watched the stream and it sounded like Wiz (or whoever the main dev was) confirmed that it's a way to go around coalitions.

Personally I'd only welcome vassal feeding if it wasn't superior to 'normal' conquest in absolutely every way like it used to be. It's otherwise just a noob trap.

Well the dude just above you said:

So..

So long as it's unique to vassal conquests and NOT returning cores, I'm fine with that.

I'm an extremely lazy battler, so I just loooooove vassals and PUs. Probably the best thing about this game. That said, I really like this new feature.

I'm sure your vassals suffer if you give them too much stuff at once. This happened to me once when I took, like, 6 provinces from Cree and they auto-added to my 13 Colonies CN. This caused them to basically go into ruin, spawning huge rebel stacks non-stop for almost 40 years... I had to use a bulk of my army to babysit them and it was such a pain.

When I heard what Wiz said it sounded like he was saying you as the overlord get the AE for expanding your vassal, but A_spec thought it was the other way around and Wiz didn't correct him. But I could be wrong here, that was just the impression I got from what he said.

Sounds fun. Maybe finally people will stop with this "Vassal feeding is a gamey tactic!" nonsense too now that it's intended.

Marches fabricating claims has made me actually interested in making marches now, I suppose.

It's not back exactly like it was before, but it helps with conquest anyway since you can juggle between diplo and admin cost. Also as a person who enjoys having harge and useful vassals it's a welcome change.

I just loved how they removed the free coring vassal feeding.
I felt that it ruined my game since I had to conquer countries that way, otherwise I felt that I was cheating myself.
It was just better in most ways, less AE and free coring.

When I heard what Wiz said it sounded like he was saying you as the overlord get the AE for expanding your vassal, but A_spec thought it was the other way around and Wiz didn't correct him. But I could be wrong here, that was just the impression I got from what he said.

Overlord gets AE.

Can you really transfer occupations to a vassal if he doesn't has a claim or core on it? In the stream, France only transfers to Provence which is an ally not a vassal. So it wouldn't be so OP.

So a much smaller change from the previous system than anticipated.

I guess this is offers a different way to get vassals to take provinces of wrong religion/culture or to take territory while overextended.

It's a compensatory factor to handle the increased cost of coring additional #provinces. They want you to use their new feature.
