I just got dragged into a war between Crimea vs Lithuania and gang out of the blue, at first I thought it was because I was defender of the faith so I reload and ditch DoF, bam war still declared around the same time in the original game. I looked and looked for the cause because I have no diplo relationship with Crimea. Turns out that my vassal Georgia decided to take Crimea as their protectorate and that's what caused me to enter the war... I'm under the impression that Vassals can't have any diplo relationship with other countries? how is it that my vassal can take another country under their protectorate? Is this a bug?

We have updated our Community Code of Conduct. Please read through the new rules for the forum that are an integral part of Paradox Interactive’s User Agreement.
It's a design flaw; one of the many wrongs with protectorates. I've had it happen many times and needs to be fixed and I am amazed that this wasn't fixed in the most recent patch.
Oh... this is the first time it happen for me... I guess there's nothing I can do but take it then :\ they should make this a priority because even now protectorate feature is more or less gimmicky without any real purpose... I'm going to lose all my allies because of this
