Vassal bug

I hope I haven´t missed any earlier posts on this bug.

Sometimes when I have vassalized a country or maybe several countries and waited for ten years in order to annex them diplomatically I don´t get the option of annexing them in the diplomatic view. I have met all the necessary condition except maybe for the fact that I don´t have a royal marriage with them. That´s the other strange part about it. When I vassalize them I loose the option to offer a royal marriage and if I had a royal marriage before it disappears. When holding the cursor over the absent "royal marriage"-option the text "You can not offer a royal marriage to **** while still a vassal of ####" appears. That is the same text you get when you try to offer a royal marriage to another country's vassal but in this case #### is me. These two strange things always appear together although it´s the first one which is the most annoying. The bug seems to have something to do with that the game don´t get that the coutry is a vassal of ME.
This has happend to me several times playing several different countries an it has also happend some friens of mine. Until recently I have just ignored it and played on but this time I was playing Austria with the intentions to conquer only by diplomatic efforts and then you really really want to be able to diplomatically annex.

Having a RM is not a requirement - the requirement is that the two nations' religions are such, that a RM is legal.

In fact, you can never offer RM to an AI vassal, you always lost that option, so it is not so strange that you get that "cannot offer RM" tooltip.

In full (unless my memory fails me), the requirements for diploannexation are
  • Vassal has been vassal for at least ten years
  • Vassal and Overlord share a common land border
  • Vassal and Overlord's religions are compatible for RM [note that this is not the same as having an RM - you can get RM by event with a country that does not count for compatibility]
  • Vassal and Overlord have 190+ relations
  • Vassal is in Overlord's alliance
  • Vassal is at peace [note that the Overlord needs not be at peace]

Sounds like there is one of the above, that you do not fulfill, though it is hard to narrow down unless you give specific vassal/overlord country examples.

Your Austrian example might be because catholic/protestant nations cannot diploannex before the edict of tolerance, but as you do not mention the other nation involved, it is hard to say.

Please report back whether your problems stem from failing one of the above rules [i.e. not a bug], or, if not, more detailed information about the circumstances in which you expect to be able to diploannex but cannot. :)
