I made a list of things today: Intersection roundabouts (kind of goes with the traffic lights and the better roundabouts things) -- that is, roundabouts that can be installed on an intersection as a separate tile, cars can move sans stopping on certain things without drastically redoing certain roadways. In my town we have roundabouts that are hardly larger than a standard intersection.
Hold shift/control or some other key when making roads to run a parallel road, at the safe, closest distance, especially for highways. Alternately, a hug button for it when making roads (button would be near the grid button -- Heh, I like hugs. C: )
This may seem small, but you'll see the point later: choose the day the town starts on.
The traffic lights things: Configurable traffic lights, if a certain street seems far busier one way than another, give it preference.
If the bigger harbor is one thing, can we make it so you can upgrade the harbor road? It is annoying how bad it can bog down traffic if you have more than one harbor.
IF YOU DO DISASTERS: Please have the ability to turn them off with no major consequence. I hate dealing with disasters when I am playing mostly for a relaxing atmosphere. Don't make it mandatory, please.
Perhaps tweak the vehicle movement so there's less phasing through. Perhaps if you have the disasters on, as above, crashes can happen, temporarily blocking roads, etc. Less crashes based on crime level.
Include more wildlife, perhaps? Especially in wooded and farm areas. Preferably clickable ones. I really enjoyed being able to name dogs.
ROADS: Bigger roads can have a bigger grid width. Meaning large roads can have bigger structures (perhaps up to 6x6 or more?) In large areas, a double grid can make mega structures under correct circumstances:
Farming and lumber industries in the same place for a year increase the resource yield of the area. Having a lumber or farm district in a fairly infertile/unwooded area will increase its wooded-ness/fertility.
Perhaps have unlockable buildings that require severe town neglect have difficult, but positive alternatives. I got all the buildings, but I hate watching the town fall to tatters, even if I was proud of the recovery.
Please split health and deathcare. Now that I have the medical center, I tried to set my healthcare budget low, and accidentally understaffed my deathcare places.
Please make it less tedious to destroy individual abandoned buildings.
Highly educated levels make it so that individuals can refurbish abandoned buildings.
PLEASE: Make it so that you can only bulldoze roads while in the road tool. I accidentally destroy roads a lot.
Higher intelligence decreasing the pollution of buildings including incinerator.
Recycling for more than 5 years: Unlock recycling facility. -- Decreases cost of recycling. Slightly increase sales (due to lowered materials costs).
A faster speed for waiting. Sometimes I have something that I know will take a while (waiting for money to accumulate, waiting for certain things to fill/empty with little else to do at that juncture) and I just sit there for literally a half hour.
Large enough farm building quantity, pet ban de-activated for 5 years: Unlock Zoo
Unlocked Zoo, Aquarium, Friendly Neighborhood Park, Science Center, Business Park: Unlock Biosphere/EcoSphere/etc.: Geodesic dome. Decreases pollution level, if Hadron Collider not unlocked, increase education level slightly.
Fountains.
Fireworks Ban: decreased happiness, decreased fire risk.
With that: Fireworks occasionally--founding town day, perhaps other times, occasionally at random. High crime areas and low education areas experience higher fire risk during such occasions.
Street vendors showing up randomly (near parks, on roadsides)
Parades. Traffic slowed/stopped on some road(s), but happiness increased.
Unlocked: Court House, Tax Office, Police Headquarters: Unlock Jail/JDC
ALTERNATIVE: Have jails, and if the crime levels are high, too few jails can increase crime, perhaps. Recreational use drops jail population significantly.
Expo Center Tooltip - Event Currently Happening: (Side note, would a convention center be too similar?)
Art museum: Current theme (Modern, Postmodern, Renaissance, Eastern, Cubism, Realism, Pottery, Blown Glass, etc.)
Stadum Tooltip - Event Currently Happening:
Colossal Order Office: "Now making..." with various games they've made. Possibly sequels.
Race Track.
Legalize gambling. Lottery: increased tax revenue, possible occasional income drops for a week.
Placeable parking lots, and (after a certain population level) garages. Decrease roadside parking. Perhaps have them as taxable fees.
Regular libraries, museums. Lecture halls. Technical schools. Chef school? Art college?
Possibly the ability to select streets with tooltips for traffic congestion, one-way or not (sometimes helpful for long roads, perhaps the ability to flip the one-way from here, as well), name the streets (default as: street, avenue, boulevard, highway).
Possible general buildings:
Theaters. (Movie, concert, bar, lecture hall)
Outdoor theaters.
Amphitheaters.
Bowling Alleys.
Arcades.
Paintball Arenas.
Airport Hangars.
Garages. (Residential, storage facilities, auto shops)
A pumpkin patch.
Outdoor malls.
Gazebos.
Pagodas.
Pachinko parlors.
Music stores.
Video rental stores.
Game stores. (I saw offices, but I haven't seen a game store. I may have missed them.)
Bakeries.
Sushi shops.
All-you-can-eat buffets.
Fancy food shops.
Vintage diners.
Fast food restaurants with drive-throughs.
Fuel stations.
Car washes.
Near highways: truckstops.
EDIT:
Parks! Public pool, paintball park, baseball park, basketball court (I see it's in the DLC, but I support.)
Tried out the asset editor for the first time today:
A water brush, and brick/plaza walkway brushes would be nice.
The ability to reposition a building on its base so that you can have, say, the default building, but moved to the side. That way if you want to add a parking lot to one side, for example, you can.
Can someone make a text tutorial for the editor? It's a bit wonky and hard to learn. I made a commercial building, but it just errors.
Trees! We need maples, specifically sugar maples and Japanese maples.
Aspens.
Willows.
Sycamores.
Baobabs?
Non-potted plants for building-edge flowers.
Jungle gyms (climbing bars, etc. Not just the slide things.)
I hope these ideas are interesting and useful. I'd love to see some in the game! Sorry if I missed anything from the list. I tried to tailor my suggestions to be helpful to the already-posted suggestions. ♥

- High education levels, industry: plane construction factories, ship construction factories, large-scale vehicle factories
- Industry: large scale packaging plants and warehouses for big box stores
- High education levels, office: huge office buildings, ad agencies
- Commercial: Big box stores, outdoor malls, Flea markets etc.
- Low density residential: Trailer parks
- High density residential: Apartment complexes
- Commercial/residential: Hotels, motels, casinos
- Farm Zone Industrial/Residential: Farmer's Markets, Orchards, Community Gardens.
- Industrial/residential: Military facilities
- If you make it so you can change zones without dezoning as mentioned, perhaps rezoning abandoned industry regions as residential can make repurposed houses.
- Residential/office: Highrises
Farming and lumber industries in the same place for a year increase the resource yield of the area. Having a lumber or farm district in a fairly infertile/unwooded area will increase its wooded-ness/fertility.
