Also, how do you load units onto transport airplanes?

Only paratroopers can get into transport planes. Get the planes and the paras in the same prov, order the paras to walk into the prov they're already in and there you have it.

Rhine: I AM serious about it, but I made it up, too. Of course Paradox is not officially proclaiming the game is only partially complete ... but if you play it you'll notice...

So, this is what I did finally.
I returned to my last save game and began the invasion of Portugal again but now with the limited aim of making her a Puppet state of mine. Once I did that I went in the best of EU2 spirit and loaded a expeditionary "army" of three divisions unto my "fleet" and took them to reclaim the new world.
I took out Venezuela (LOL) and in quick succesion, Colombia, Ecuador and Perú.
Now I´m a Oil rich bastard with the huge producing Maracaibo Province and I´m only missing the Rubber which I´m seeing gets produced in Brazil...:D ...I´m not there YET.
The AI is terrible and my walkthrough South America with those same three divisions is a joke but I´m having my EU2 flashback :D
So, now all its about setting up those convoys (odd enough I´m getting more and more shipping although I have not ordered a single boat to be launched).
With oil, steel and coal my economy is ready to go and working 24-7 only with some problems when the rubber imports through trade get few.
I do have noticed that my production falls dramatically when I´m at war for longer then two months. How can Germany cope with this in a year long war?

I figured out what my problem was. It wasn't that I ran out of rubber, but that I had run out of supplies. I was overproducing military units, apparently, and it seems there is no way to cancel them once they're in the queue. Once the backlog cleared things got better.

I haven't gotten around to playing China yet. But it would seem to me that the biggest rubber plantations in the entire world (maybe even the only ones) are right on your southern doorstep. And given the braindead way the AI handles complex Japanese amphibious campaigns, it shouldn't be tough to keep.

There is a ton of rubber there, but that area is not Vietnam and Burma, it's UK and France. So taking that rubber would mean declaring war on the Allies, and I want to join them to help curb Japan. My crappy 30 org troops can't stand up to a Japanese thrashing.

Okay, here are a couple more questions.

1) When I build up infrastructure or industries or AA in a province, what does that cost me? I can't seem to figure it out.

2) Why does Japan declare war on the Netherlands in 1937 in every 1936 start game I've started (5 or 6 so far.) This always kicks off the entire Axis vs Allies things way early.

Because oil and rubber are candy and the Netherlands are the baby.

And also I believe it takes half the ic output of a province to improve it. I only improve industries of one and two because each improvement only adds one ic point to a province and isnt really worth the investment.

To improve your industry or AA in a province, you need to spend half of that provinces IC to do so... and and the values will only raise with 1 per improvment.

The colony thing is quite sad...

The colonies at the time were a useless for their masters, they just drained the motherlands resources.
There are a couple of exceptions, but the african colonies wasnt much use anymore.
If they lost the supply train from home they would collapse and become independent (unless some other nation supplied them).

I understand that Japan wants rubber, but in 1937? I think it always declaring war on Netherlands is part of the problem of the war kicking off years ahead of when it normally did. This happening once in a while would be fine, but every time? I hope this gets tweaked to allow a proper range of war start times.

Thanks for the answer on improving industries, that explains why my IC was so low after I was improving on most of my provinces!

I really like this game so far (as an EU junkie) and think it will be great once a few of the problems are corrected.

If you can muster the strength early enough, I'd just bully Vietnam and Burma into being part of Greater China. Problem solved :)

T.
Siam is a neutral country you can beat pretty easily. The rest of the rubber is owned by UK/Netherlands/France so you may not want to get into that. Just trade. You should have a huge surplus of steel so trade 300 for 100 and your rubber worries are over. Communist China, Sinkiang, and Tibet should have enough oil to keep you going unless you have a lot of motorized units and ships running around.

japan declaring war on netherlands

In my first game, as France 1936, Japan did not declare war on the netherlands, in fact, they didn't even join the axis until around 1944 and the axis and allies War declaration didn't occur until 1939

Mostly Japan conquered China and battled with soviet union. They held the south pacific islands until nearly the end because they joined the axis late in the game.
