Good afternoon.
I am playing (and thoroughly enjoying) the new Horse Lords expansion pack. Having played the game for years, I decided to finally do my first Iron Man run now that I have all the expansion packs. I started in 867 AD and am running into bugs that are very bizarre. Are these glitches, or is this working as designed?
First, when I grant a nomadic character his own county, his own landed Duchy, or both, he loses all of the items i gave him and joins my court. The History reads that I "usurped his title". This is bizarre because it, in essence, means that I cannot create vassals outside giving my Clans my spare lands.
Second, I successfully displaced the last Mongol on the map. I was delighted to see that he and his many children joined my court. I had planned to land the kids and also marry the daughters to my sons (both for claims on still existing land and because Mongol packs are awesome), but I was surprised to see that these children, all in my court, do not have me as their Liege. It seems that, for some reason, that the unlanded father, who I defeated, is still their liege. Outside of wives having their husband as their liege, I've never seen this happen.
If this is working as designed, that's going to be a nightmare and, essentially, the end of my favorite pastime of saving and converting unique dynasties under me, as well as diversifying my court. It means that I will be forced to kill the characters off to control their children. It ruins much of my favorite deeds in this game.
Third (this is in conunction with the second), I cannot marry or betrothe my courtiers to my other courtiers because of the second glitch. It means, basically, that these kids are going to grow up unmarried and I have no control over them. The marriage is greyed out and betrothal doesn't work, either. Do I really have to go through all the effort of killing a courtier to actually control my other courtiers? -because if I do, that is fasting insane. I am the boss of my courtiers and an unlanded man in my court should not be able to tell me what I cannot do with other courtiers!
This is frustrating.
