'Visual Novels' aka Nudey Anime games

Pardon the OT but I don't like people saying bad things about a game genre they clearly don't know at all.

Many visual novels don't have ANY nude content. Like Clannad, Narcissu, Umineko, Higurashi, Chaos;Head, Steins;Gate, Robotics;Notes, etc..

Also there are all-ages versions of many visual novels/adv with erotic content. Besides there are various genres of visual novel/adv like kinetic, novel, adv, rpg, tactical rpg, strategy games, etc and all of the have a degree of sexual content ranging from zero to 100%.
Some stories include sexual content because it's a natural part of human life/intimate relationships, other are simply "harem" type of games, other are romantic games where you chose a girl or boy or both and try to court them. There are also ren ai games that are game focused on romance without sexual content and dating sims that are also another type of vn with a system like Persona social link for example.

EDIT: Removing Katawa Shoujo because of added sexual content I did not encounter when I read the old version years ago.

Nice info, one question though. Is it a given that there is a non compatibility or is it an option to take a gamble and try it anyway? I'm at 1540 or so so the campaign hasn't been that long in the making.

I dont think there is a way it can work. Your save game would lack historical entries for all the new provinces ownerships and stuff. The differences between your save game map and MN map would be just too big.

If you load your game in the lobby of a 1.16 installation then this could be enough to corrupt your game so, if it is Ironman, then it would be unwise to take the gamble. If it isn't Ironman then you could always take a backup copy of your save first but I think some problems are inevitable.

I guess mods from the Steam workshop are not affected by setting the version to 1.15? So within a few days modders will start publishing their mods updated for 1.16 and there's a risk they will not work with a downgraded 1.15 game anymore. I made a local backup of all the installed mods and I hope I will be able to "manually downgrade" the mods if necessary.

I'll grant you the rest of that list (either because they're not age-gated on Steam or I haven't played them so will defer to someone who has), but KS certainly contains nude images of all five romantic interests.

I see, you're right, my bad. When I played it there wasn't anything like that. I'll remove it from the post and write an edit.

When did they add this sexual content? After they completed all the acts or rather as a patch?

It's all in the later acts, yes.

The game is now patched but neither the DLC nor the old patch are available atm.

Ok thanks, that settles it. This is looking like my best ironman attempt yet (allthough I've been surprised with catastrophic wars in the past as well) o I'm probably doint it the safe way and play on in 1.15

There is no dropdown-menu for me on betas tab (it just say "none..."). What am I doing wrong?

Sometimes Steam glitches out and does not show the dropdown. In this situation, click on the dropdown box and use the arrowkeys Up and DOWN to navigate.

Thanks, that worked. But my savegames were all dead (have been droped out of the game to my desktop), because I initially loaded one savegame from 1.15 with 1.16 - I thought the older savegames would still be useable. Oh well, I guess it's time for a new game

It's probably also a good idea to write-protect all the mods in C:\Users\<Username>\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis IV\mod\ because the EU4 launcher has already started to update some mods.
