Hi, attached is a save file from my game. As you are probably well aware by now, the mid-late game bogs down into a bit of a framerate mess. Fleet battles are a bit of a crawl and do harm the eye candy quite a bit. There are regular 2-3 second hangs where the game just stops as if it's having trouble processing things. All the while, there is regular stutter in the background.

This was improved slightly with the beta patch, but it seems there is a ways to go.

While there are a number of areas that need polishing, this to me is by far the biggest QoL issue and absolutely has to be solved quickly for the health of the game.

I'm using a machine that contains an i5 4690k @ 4.2 ghz, GTX 970, 16 GB DDR3, Win 10 64.

Edit* this was on a standard medium size galaxy.

same here got a i7 2600k and a gtx 970 not playable lategame atm on my ironman save

noticed there are some errors in the dxdiag report at the bottom maybe that helps

after several days looking for a solution the low fps i didnt found a fix so far but the game freezes every day its simple dont make like to big sectors

found it on a steamforum post hope that helps guys

I tried the "small sector" thing, I basically deleted all the sectors (you can't imagine the lag once it was done, like 5fps top). Then rebuilt very small sectors. Didn't do much.
Going fullscreen or windowed but not borderless will also slightly increase the fps, or so it seems. But we are speaking of something extremely small.

That was before the last patch though, but I let someone else try for that one :)

Anyway, there is a "lag" topic, and I suggest to post there, so the devs have everything at the same place.
