Found this issue mentioned in several posts,
e.g.
Precursor Artifacts
and
Galactic Ambitions tech/starchart trading block surveying anomalies
but could not find a corresponding bug report.

Anomalies are triggered by surveying and the Galactic Ambitions tech and trading star charts marks systems as surveyed, effectively preventing especially event chains like finding all the precursor artifacts.

I think this is widely known and may not even be a bug but hope this can be fixed.

At least when I started typing the topic your thread popped up :)

After the first mistakes - agreeing to deal with Star Charts - I've stopped because surveying systems is crucial for your next generation of researchers and much more the possibility to find some anomalies...

The +20% Border Range provided by Galactic Ambitions is the bonus while the Survey Data can be a kickback. You can survey other empire systems while being at war...

Yeah this is really annoying. I mean, I want +20% border range, but I also want my scientists to level, gain anomaly bonuses, etc...
Agreed. If the wiki is correct, not taking that tech also blocks getting the tier 3 and 4 Physics labs, which is a pretty big deal as well.

It'd be really nice if a dev would let us know that they are aware of this and that it is being worked on. :(

@MrNibbles

Since you seem active in this forum, any hope that Paradox is aware of the many bugged missions involving surveying systems and working on fixing them?

Because all of the interesting story quests seem to be broken due to this bug, I'm currently not playing Stellaris and hoping that it is fixed by 1.1.

I try to be as active as I can =)

We'll see how many things we are able to fix in patch 1.1, as we want to push it out to you rather soon-ish.

I appreciate that you're as active here as you can be. Given that there is currently 90 pages of posts in the bug report forum, it has to be pretty overwhelming. :)

I hope that the quest fixes make it into 1.1. The explore X is one of my favorites in 4X games, and the story quests in Stellaris really excite me.
