Game started in v1.0.0, currently in v1.0.2.

One of my fleets is currently locked in battle with another fleet, with neither side moving to engage each other. They have been like this for over a month.

(1) Battleships in my fleet

(3) Enemy fleet

What happened here is that my fleet was off engaging an enemy fleet which was at the bottom right of my screen. All the other ships proceeded to swarm them while my battleships lagged behind. Shortly after annihilating the enemy fleet, a second enemy fleet (3) jumped in from the 'north' and engaged my fleet. All the ships in my fleet got locked into position, and while the battleships' long-ranged weapons were capable of taking out a few of them the remainder are out of range, and not moving in to attack.

I've attached the savefile to this post. The fleet in question is the 'Cirra Home Fleet' in the ledger. Thank you for taking the time to check this bug.

Description:
Booth fleets seem to be stuck in battle but not engaging (shooting) each other,

My fleet is set to bombard the planet (and it automatically engaged everything on the way). My battleships lagged behind (being slower) and then an enemy fleet attacked the rear of my formation and my fleet became 'stuck' in an engagement but neither party shot at each other.

Steps to reproduce:
If anyone knows how to reliably reproduce this apart from getting the AI to attack your fleet in the back when in another battle please post it!

Steps to resolve:
It is possible to fix this by retreating your fleet.

My fleet moved into a enemy system and got caught by a defensive station. They then moved away from it to attack a space station but did not close to range. Both the defensive station and space station are out of range of my weapons with my ships in the middle. The space station can shoot at me and the point defence shoots the missiles down.

I've also had this problem less pronounced in other battles where at least some of my ships don't move but the enemy has always moved in.

Mods: I have the Flags : Emblems & Backgrounds and Expanded Colours [48] cosmetic mods installed.

Steps:
1. Start the game and load the save.
2. It should jump you into the system with the battle.
3. You should be able to observe the problem.

v1.0.2 (fc5e) Possibly the same/related issue.

Problem: While testing fleet comps (high evasion corvettes here) with console commands (for resources, tech) I got into a situation where as I attacked a fallen empire's ringworld station, I was attacked in the rear by a few fleets. My fleet consisted of approx. 20k worth of corvettes, with 5 battleships and some destroyers (destroyers and battleships with longrange weapons). My destroyers and battleships were firing on the enemy, but the corvettes did not attack either the station I gave the initial order on or the enemy ships firing at them from behind, instead constantly circling back and forth around my own destroyers. It looked like they couldn't make their minds up. The battle lasted for several years (due to 94% evasion on the corvettes) and for all that time the corvettes circled my destroyers, only firing on Fallen Empire ships when they got close (which was rare) - and never moving towards them.

Corvettes are on Pre-Cognitive ship AI (should be both offensive and defensive), destroyers are on Sentient Combat Computers, Battleships on Advanced Defensive - the issue might be some peculiarity with Pre-Cognitive ship AI.

Almost exactly the same thing seemed to happen in the next ringworld system, where as I attack a station with my remaining fleet the AI attacks me from the rear making my corvettes unable to engage either enemy for an extended period of time.

Mods/DLC: No mods in use. All available DLCs (Arachnoid, Void portraits, Sign-Up Bonus, Symbols of Domination)

To reproduce: I attached a save game from mid battle. Should be able to see the issue (I was when I reloaded to watch it again), and possibly again if you wait the battle out (several ingame years) and attack the next ringworld system.

Possibly also if using the same setup - high evasion corvettes with pre-cognitive (the psionic one) ship AI, short range (laser) weapons and point defense, maybe with long-range ships on different AI in the fleet, when being engaged from two directions.

In my game i cought enemy fleet attacking my spaceport...my corvettes engaged (40% of my army) and got wiped by enemy stack while all my cruisers and destroyers stayed back and did nothing...then enemy stack moved in and wiped those as well

I saw the same issue in 1.0.2 (IIRC) when I had a single battleship trying to babysit Scourge planets. If the planets got a station in orbit before my ship arrived, it would enter combat and just park outside of weapons range. Adding a second battleship allowed one, and only one, to engage the station. Once defeated, both would then take up orbit. Haven't noticed it yet in 1.0.3
