Hi,

Everytime I try to trade energy credits with the AI, it seems to be useless.

The AI will not accept them. Even if I give them 4000 credits for free, or if I want to trade credits for something else.. no matter what I do, they won't accept them. Even if they are at 0 (so not -1000) willingness they won't go to 1.

I assume this is a bug? I'm currently capped with 4500 credits and the AI will not accept them whatsoever.

Thanks!

There really should be some kind of energy dump. If I'm getting capped at minerals I can build something, if I'm capped at influence I can enact some random edict, but energy you really have few options.

you use energy mainly for bribing faction leaders which is fine i think...once they re-enable fully the slave faction mechanic or even tinker a bit the normal factions, making them harder or expanding on this idea in the future...it might become easier to spend your energy.

also in times of war if you try to cap your naval capacity you will most likely go into the red with your energy and you're gonna need those reserves!

When I hit my energy credit storage limit, I transfer energy credits to my sector governors - they have the same limit as me all over again... - one sector also reached its limit now, so I made a 2nd sector. The only problem is, that they can't give them back ;-) - and in order to spend them, they also need to have minerals - which I would usually try to have for myself.

I don't have factions yet, and I was never at war once (it's 2269 in a standard size galaxy). I feel I'll never run out of credits: I have 12 Betharian Powerplants II plus The Galactic Stock Exchange and a Power Hub II on my homeworld (and all my POPs at the homeworld are Fanatic Individualists giving another 20% extra)...

Edit: oh I just noticed that I could have placed the Galactic Stock Exchange on a different planet.

And to the OP: yes, energy credits are worthless in diplomatic interactions with all races in my game too... - always have been from the start - not sure if this works as intended.

I came across this problem and played around a bit. I found that if you put Energy Credits first in the trade, the value will not raise above 0. If you put something they accept, say minerals, enough to bring the offer to 1, you can then add as many Energy Credits as you want, and it does not change the value of trade. This has been the case with a vassal, with a co-member of the federation I am in, and a completely neutral empire who had a positive opinion of me. My rival was not so keen on it, but that is not surprising (though, I would still think they would have a chance of accepting a gift.

However, I did note that if I tried to repeat this a second time with the same group, some were willing to accept, and some refused to even accept any mineral amount (I had on hand a little more than 1.5k). That perhaps is intentional, though I would think that any offer I am giving for nothing in return should be treated as a "gift" and readily accepted.

just undock your fleet ;)
I go from +100 to -100 if I undock my fleets (3 fleets almost 30k each)

On topic, try to trade energy with someone that is in war often and loses his planets, this will ruin his economy and he should be open for energy...
Also never trade more then 2000 energy, I noticed AI will never accept big energy trades (either due to bug or scripted like that)

I'm pretty sure the AI cheats (either doesn't pay or pays reduced maintenance) in a way which causes them to always have a huge surplus of energy, since I've never found an AI which isn't hugely in the green for energy whereas my sectors can't figure out how to balance their books even when set to financial.

Really? I have a (one-planet) sector set to financial, and it is 1400 credits in the green. I wish there were something for it to spend them on...

I think early game credits have a large impact cause need to balance between credits to develop and minerals to build up empire, but late game....

I currently produce 500+ credits / month and every new planet rather I put in sector or not doesn't hurt that number anymore, I got nothing to just bleed credits in not even fleet (with fleet out still running between +50-100) same goes for minerals, with fleet capped at 1000, can't keep growing it to use minerals and credits...
