So I had a primitive pop from an infiltrated planet, I had them all in one sector, I granted the sector independence as a vassal and a totally different pop that didnt exist and has no units in the entire game was generated. I tried it with some of my main pops that drifted later and the same thing happened, a totally random species was generated (different than the first random species and my main pop).

If you grant independence shouldn't the new state be of one of its constituent pops (if no the most populous one?)
