Basically I was modifying my home systems' genetic structure to make them more badass. This stopped the research for society research. I then went on a killing spree purging all hostile fleets that belong to red crystalline aliens. After I destroyed them, I sent a research vessel to scan debris. This gave me a 10% bonus for regenerative hulls research (also society). I repeatedly did this until I got to about 96% of the research requirement and was scanning another red crystal debris. The 10% "Bonus" reset the tech to only about 4% complete. Class C bug. I think it is something in the tech completion requirement. It has to equal 100% but it should be changed to greater than or equal to 100%. Im not sure if thats how research was done, but it seems to be a verification issue.
