It seems when I open HoI through Total War icon on desktop, no music plays...:(

Edit: I just pasted the music config file over from Stony road folder and it worked. I also pasted over gfx folder from stony folder to total war folder and that gave sprites and other graphics I suppose.

Haven't had a chance to download the new version yet (on 56k sigh) so I'm after some feedback from other players.

What sort of difference has the tech "theory" research time increase of 30% made ?

Hopefully it will slow down the US's march to Nuclear Weapons but seeing as the AI majors have a considerable tech advantage over the axis by default in Stony Road wouldn't this change add a severe handicap to the human player ?

Not a criticism, just my thoughts. Fielding units that were historically present at the time (like PzIII's in 39, 40 and 41) is fine with me until they come up against JS II's instead of early T34's :)

Lastly, does the 30% time increase also apply to doctrines or just to tech theories ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi!
Will add the music fix for total war!
YEs, the 30% add on all major techs (golden), but lowers apps by 10% ! Fort values have been tweaked down on the other hand

Nice work N!ghty :)

I am not sure whether you removed any events or not in Total War. But if not, then (for those unaware of it):

Total War 1939 (included with Stony Road) contains an additional 200 events (many of them written by Extro), including almost 100 events for South America!

Enjoy!

It seems everytime I play, Bulgaria caves into the territorial demands of Turkey. Is this realistic?
Shouldn't some nations have more national claims? For example, shouldn't Italy have claims on Albania and some parts of Yugoslavia?

Works perfectly fine, actually rewarding you when researching appl. techs. instead of jumping techs levels to look directly for advance unit types. If you want your Pzw III you can perfectly have them for the dates you mention. I easily got the Pzw V tech (70mm) in early 1940. But if you specialise you should be able to have it sooner.

I thought the units name bug was fixed for this version, but I had to copy into the modir my old edited unit names file to eliminate the repeatition bug. I guess you forgot to add it.

Beating up France

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm finding this version of Stony Road a hell of a lot more challenging.

France is causing me fits, whether I go after them in '38 or '40. They build up much faster than I can, once I attack.

Admittedly, I'm still focusing on tech, but in the past 50 ICs of unit building has served me well while I've been attacking france.

How are the rest of you doing? What kind of tricks / strategy are you using to crush France?

Nighty--

Outstanding work.
Version 0520 is outstanding.
Just a few comments and questions...

First off, after attempting to play 0507 save game, i experienced several CTDs. After deleting that save game, no more problems.

Second, there is a pop-up for "famous quotes." I selected "yes" but never hear anything. Has that feature been disabled?

Other than that, it is great work that you have done. Good job and thanks!!!

Same here on the famous quotes bit. In general, great work, and I am still seeking an answer to France since the Russians generally have Dow'd if you take the historical route, and cause you to spend a great del of time simply stabilizing the eastern front. Will comment further on this, but looks an awful lot like the answer to your unasked question, Kf, is that the ICs committed to building probably need to be in the 75 to 100 level. I too use a 50 level build, and so far, it appears not to be enough, regardless of the choices I make within that level...

People Say Remarkably Little

Having played Stony several times from the German side, I am almost certain the only "People Say..." quote is early on, some guy named Sulzberger dissing Hitler in like 37 or 38.

Most claims of minors should be removed, as should those for Natchi.

1) Bulgaria always caves in to Turkey's demands
2) I've just seen Natchi acquire Manchu by demanding.

And before I forget it, I demand an ahistorical security minister for Italy:
Gariboldi, Prince of Terror ;)
