V-net connecting problem.

I have a problem regarding V-net, more specific connecting to the V-net mainserver. I get to the MP menu and choose Valkyrienet. Then I have to wait a long time (longer than usual) before i get to the V-net window (desktop, call it whatever you want to call it).

The only problem is that I do not seem to have any connection with the V-net main server. I do not find any channels to join. The weird thing is that i have never had this problem before, I do not use a router, it is the same with all versions and mods of EU2, there are no problem with my internet connection and I can join a game via internet connection (IP).

I have absolutly no idea of what to do.

Try again later. Sounds to me there was a temporal problem with Valkyrienet (it happens some times).

You have no router, but does your firewall allow traffic to V-Net? Try with allowing all traffic, if you do succed then the problem is your firewall.

You have Windows = you have firewall. Check the Windows firewall settings

If you have no router (are you sure? you might be confused in thinking your router is a modem ) and no firewall, then the problem is vnet itself, especially if the problem suddenly appeared.

But what could be wrong with V-net then. I've checked the internet adress for V-net in Eu2 settings and it is correct.

Could you please tell the name and type of your modem? What sort of a connection do you have to the internet (modem, private cable, university or company cable)? Do you have more than one computer at home that share the internet connection?

The modem type and name are "Xavi 5222" and I use ADSL 2Mbit private. Only one computer at the moment.

XAVi 5222 is a ADSL modem *and* a router that allows four computers to be connected.

Please take a look at the manual and check the ports are forwarded properly.

Where have you gotten the information that this modem also is a router.
It doesn't say anything in the manual or on my broadband leveranteurs website.

And I do not have a clue on how to open the right ports.

When I tried to help Semlan he told me it was a modem with four ports and since I am a technical idiot I was merely astonished such an animal existed. o

I believe you must enter the router via your Internet explorer, you have to write the adress of the router (your router that is) in the adress field. At least that was what I had to do when I had a router (that I throw out of the window after a few hours). Now I live happily with a true modem.

And what is that adress? How could I know... Either read the manual or make a phone call to the company where you bought it. They can tell or they can tell where to phone to get assistance. Or google for it.

After that all that remains is to follow the instructions you get. (It was when trying to do that I throw the router out through the window ).

I just phoned my support for broadband, they claim that this modem model is not a router, though that it has a switch in it.

Then it must be something wrong with my V-net, I am right?

I have now also tested with Hearts of Iron and get the same result.

Like Daniel said, routers usually have to be configured via IE. Simply open it, and type

http://192.168.1.1

I doubt it works, but it is good to try. I dont know what page you gotta go to configure it, so you really should check the manual. Most routers use that adress.

As I just told everyone, this is not a router, it is a modem with built in switch.
I do not have a manual for any kind of router.

But try to turn off your modem and switch (maybe also computer). Cut the power for 5 minutes. Then turn it all back on, and see (perhaps turn modem on first [IE. let it blink "ready"]). Sometimes that's been the problem for me.

To find out the adress at which you can configure your router (if you indeed have one), go to command prompt and type 'ipconfig /all'

The page is the same as your default gateway. For most routers this is 192.168.1.1

Incidentally, if your IP adress starts with 192.168 you are definately behind a NAT enabled router.
