I've always thought it kind of weird that if you usurp a title and its the only highest tier title the victim has, all their vassals suddenly declare independence. Even though its totally reasonable for someone to say "i rule most of this land now, so im the true duke of x", its not so reasonable for the original owner and his vassals to agree. I understand that the same religion requirement is there to somewhat limit this, but its still not too reasonable for a petty kingdom to suddenly stop being one just because the land of its namesake is no longer owned and it stands on a intersection of other dejure ones and doesn't control enough of any one one to create a new duchy.

I suggest that if the title being usurped is the highest, only title of that tier, then a new temporary titular title of the same rank should be created to maintain the realm, which would be destroyed when a landed title of the same tier is held. If not that, then maybe a new gamerule could be made for usurpations ranging from all usurping allowed -> same religion usurping allowed (as it is now) ->same religion and culture usurping allowed -> no usurping allowed, to at least tone the issue down a bit.

once you have the de jure liege title, you will have a much better chance to vassalise the previous lords vassals anyway, that is how I normally united a de jure title I usurp

I always viewed it as representing like, the final nail in the coffin of a lengthy process of eroding the previous holder's legitimacy by taking their lands, finally making the official declaration that these lands are yours, and since they no longer dwell in the main part of them, leaving their former lord as a...I want to say pretender, but that's not technically accurate; someone with a strong claim to them, still.

I support the idea of titular title that´s a copy of the usurped one if the last title of toptier is usurped.
A title that should be destroyed at next succession or when another title of same tier is added to the collection.

I suppose that would be an improvement over the current system, but I would like to see something more radical.
As far as feudalism is concerned, being able to usurp someone because you own more land in a certain region, doesn't make any sense. I'd change it so that, you can only usurp someone if you have a claim, otherwise you should be forced to destroy the realm and re-create the title.
