I'm really liking the new DLC however I've since discovered that Soviet Union is now next to impossible to defeat as German Reich now that National Unity has been replaced.
I've played two campaigns as Germany and both times Japan went it's own way and ignored Axis and the soviets.
Since then I've invaded the soviets twice and both times I have captured every single VP at the western side of USSR including major cities like Moscow, Leningrad, Stalingrad, Sevastopol ect. and they're not even close to capitulate. Previous campaign put them around 70% at that point because of their stability and war support. Which means that I would have to conquer Vladivostok aswell since it's the only "real" city left to capture and that is IMO way too much to ask for as Germany.

Anyone else having same issues or is it just me?
Because if this is a thing then I hope they would change the soviets so that you don't have to march all the way to far east as Germany just to get the soviets to surrender.

Japan going its own way is intended with he new update and historical. I've played a Germany campaign and I had no problems defeating the USSR. Could take a screenshot of exactly how much you have conquered at the moment?

Keep in mind non-victory point locations also count towards defeat, not just victory point locations. You might find the USSR capitulates earlier than you expect.

Haven't tried personally but have seen diffent videos of people, playing as Germany, capitulating USSR after a couple of months after they got all major cities in the west.
They basically arrived in the position were they got all the bigger western cities, and after around 4-6 months of grabbing provinces USSR just capitulated.

Yeah, I know WtT added new focuses for Japan and that's not the issue.
I can't take an actual screenshot atm but basically I've advanced around the area painted on the map and that made the soviets to be around 70% towards capitulation. And Poland and the Baltic states are also under my control.

The trouble with it being 80% is that you either need to take Vladivostok or take so many provinces that you're basically there anyway. A real pain indeed. In 1.4 it was possible for the Soviets to get 70 something percent unity with decent consistency, in which case capitulation required occupying the VPs of the Steppe, and that's IMO already a bit much.

Hmm, in my game they capitulated when I got to the Urals. Try taking the states around the Urals and see if they capitulate then?

There should be way to sign a peace with the allies and comitern. It might have to be scripted for now, but later on I hope you can make peace properly during war. The USSR wouldn't have capitulated after the Germans had only taken western USSR, but could've signed a peace.

I had accidently involved to a war with Sovyet in 1941 bevor France capitulations (as Imperial Germany, France goes with UK). It was still easy enough that in ´42 France, ´43 sovyets and ´44 UK Capitulated....So don´t think thats Russia is "impossible to defeat", they give up much early then bevor. Bevor 1.5 i had run to Wladivostok mostly, now its enough to be in around Urals.
