Useful mods and compatibility between them

As more users helping me expanding this list, its now more about tweaking and making game more harder / complex, than simply say "these all are bugs". So changed the name of this post to be more accurate.

Also note that I am not trying to list all of useful mods, rather complete list of mods, which fix basic gameplay elements. So no camera mods, UI modifier, all kinds of tools, icon shortcuts, unlockables etc.

Hope it will help some of you:)

Now with active links to workshop!

Based on my testing, The One mod which is essential, if you want to have game more deep, is (Proper Hardness). This one has most tweaks and focusing on the biggest flaws in design, so you can use only this one and your game should be stable. Also guy behind this is constantly updating it and adding more features, like fire spreading, etc.!

Today (21.3) we have a new mod which could be considered as var. B if you want to use only one hardcore mod (because that way game experience should be without game crashing bugs corupting saves). That mod is called (Building Simulation Overhaul). Author of this mod is very productive and I am sure that he will be updating it and adding more features.

Maybe one day we will have only one mod thats fixing all this stuff, OR 100% compatibility between these mods...

This is the list of things that can bother you and which mod will help you to solve this:
- parks eat commerce demand (PATCHED 1.0.6b) /you should unsubcribe (Commercial Demand Fix mod)/
- industry and offices leveling depands on parks and services rather than education workers
(Proper Hardness) / (Level Up Balance) / (Building Simulation Overhaul) /use only one of these!/
- having more than 100% service coverage speeds up leveling
(Proper Hardness) / (Level Up Balance) / (Building Simulation Overhaul) /use only one of these!/
- rebalance leveling residence (pollution can prevent leveling, etc.)
(Proper Hardness) / (Level Up Balance) / (Building Simulation Overhaul) /use only one of these!/
- leveling isnt based on density of the area (Building Simulation Overhaul)
- lack of information about leveling progress
(Proper Hardness) / (Extended Building Information) /use only one of these!/
- if cims cannot reach I or C zones nothings happened (Proper Hardness)
- no fire spreading (Proper Hardness) / (Fire Spread) /it won't collide - you just may see a few more fires if you use both/
- traffic despawning when stuck in traffic
(Proper Hardness) / (No Despawn Mod) /use only one of these!/
- death spikes (aka death bodies everywhere) (Proper Hardness) / (Slow Citizen Aging) /use only one of these!/
- resources run out very fast (Infinite Oil And Ore)
- residences fill up only 80% (Fill The Houses) / (Building Simulation Overhaul) /use only one of these!/
- lots of garbage trucks on the streets (Slow Trash Production)

1) Based on information from author one of these mods, all of mods above are in curent versions 99% compatible with each other, except Level Up Balance and Proper Hardness* ("My industry and office level ups will work fine. Residential and commercial level ups will conflict with Proper Hardness. Depending upon load order, one or the other check will be performed.") So you should use only one of these two mods!

1b) Newer Building Simulation Overhaul combine more features into one mod with some new features (check the list above) from the same author. Compatibility info: "Compatible with my Slower Citizen Aging, Slower Trash Production, and Infinite Oil and Ore mod. Not compatible with my Fill the Houses and Level Up Balance Mod, but features from both are included" So again, no compatibility with Proper Hardness mode - only use one of these!

2) Proper Hardness kind of include Level Up Balance: "I've added leveling changes, similar to the level up mod, but not as drastic. Offices and Industry no longer use deah coverage etc. they only use fire, police, public transport, land value, abandonment, and entertainment to calculate the service rating. Offices also suffer from both noise and normal pollusion. Industry also needs cargo transport. Also displayed the exact service rating when you click on the buildings."

2b) Proper Hardness is configurable, so you can choose what features you like. Also previous version without cost changes is now delisted.

3) Extended Building Information should not conflict with any other mod since it only touches the UI. However, the level up progress bars won't be accurate if you use a mod which modifies the level up requirements. Also don't use together with the Proper Hardness mod, that already includes this.

- bad hearses pathfinding (SOM - Services Optimization Module)
- commerce leveling should depand mainly on profitableness (No Mod Addresses This Yet)
- trains get stucked on the edges of maps (No Mod Addresses This Yet)
- population capacity of buildings doesnt represent building size (PopBalanceMod) /may be problem with 65k active cims limit, also buggy after last patch; also noted that this mod is not very likely to compatible with Proper Hardness, Level Up Balance, Building Simulation Overhaul and Control Building Level Up/
- there is no chance to stop buildings from leveling (Control Building Level Up) /note that this mod is in very early state and users reporting crashing game with this one; also noted that this mod is not very likely to compatible with Proper Hardness, Level Up Balance, Building Simulation Overhaul and PopBalanceMod/
- cant terraform ingame (Terraforming Tool)

thanks to nickn5 and TriGlav_2000:
- unable to upgrade two way roads to one way and vice versa (PATCHED 1.0.6b) /some missing features in patch, so you can keep using (Extended Road Upgrade mod)/
- no Steam achievements when using mod
(Mod Achievement Enabler)
- cannot view/edit separate but overlapping bus and metro lines (Transport Lines Manager) / (Extended Public Transport UI) /use only one of these!/
- four lane roads causing stop lights even when highway ramps used (No Mod Addresses This Yet)
- shallow angles of rail and road joining/merging impossible to create properly (No Mod Addresses This Yet)
- randomly bus and metro stops being deleted result in Cims still queueing for no reason (No Mod Addresses This Yet)

thanks to StephenR and Japamala:
- if you drag out a long stretch of road and raise it up the gradient is set to a sharp incline (Stricter Slope Limits) /you need Fine Doar Heights mod to work this/
- small possibility to elevate roads just by small steps
(Fine Road Heights)

thanks to Sparr0w:
- people and cars moving in fast forward mode even on slowest speed setting (SpeedSlider) /added this one as you can adjust the speed/

thanks to mad.manekineko & Geonosis:
- there is no way to choose if you want / dont want traffic lights (Toggle Traffic Lights) /use only this one or the follow one, not both, they are not compatible/
- there is no way to forbid left / right turn at intersection (Lane Changer: No left/right turn) /use only this one or the one above, not both, they are not compatible/

- no Zonable Pedestrian Paths
(Traffic++) /not compatible with Lane Changer mod, but Toggle Traffic Lights is fine/
- no roads with Bus Lanes
(Traffic++) /not compatible with Lane Changer mod, but Toggle Traffic Lights is fine/

Please, if you know about other mods solving this issues or if you have other problems that bothers you, reply to this thread, if you want. I will try to update this post. Thank you!

It would be great if all this things (and even more) will come up in one big "hard deep" mode, because right now authors cannot guarantee, that all mods will work together... Or if CO could patched all of this;)

Yes, as the "Proper Hardness" mod adds more features, it is likely to conflict with other mods. Right now I'm guessing it conflicts with several of my mods, I'll have to check it out and see.
Great, cant thank you enough! So far I have tested (only very small town, had no more time) it works OK. This night I will do proper tests.

Current compatibility status between my mods and proper hardness (as far as I can tell):
Level Up Balance Mod (partial compatibility) - My industry and office level ups with work fine. Residential and commercial level ups will conflict with Proper Hardness. Depending upon load order, one or the other check will be performed.
Slow Aging Mod (full compatibility)
Slow Garbage Mod (full compatibility)
Infinite Resources Mod (full compatibility)
Remove Park Impact on Commercial (full compatibility)
Fill The Residences (full compatibility) - well, as soon as I push this new update, had to make a simple change.

Thank you, edited first post with your compatibility information and also add all of your mods. If you will have time, it would be great if you could look at other issues too. Thanks again for you work so far.

I would like to see one to look at the broken bus routes. Setting up one is okay, but once you either amend or add another with some other routes bus stops, the whole thing is a right mess.

"shallow angles of rail and road joining/merging impossible to create properly" this annoyed me something fierce since it was completely fine to do in CIM2 the angle of merging in skylines is too damn aggressive. also the snapping of roads when building them next to each other even when the snap icon is turned off, heres hoping for a huge road and highway overhaul like in other city builders.

Constrained road gradient. Even if you drag out a long stretch of road and raise it up the gradient is set to a sharp incline. Should change to the further the road stretches the smoother the gradient. Like the pedestrian pathway.

Is there a problem with the Proper Hardness mod and the other mods listed here? I find it impossible to play the game with all these mods activated. I am in debt in the beginning, which isn't a big problem, once I build a small little town... but all my industrial area gives me a "too few services" popup and they all abandon their buildings after a while. Of course there are too few services, I have not unlocked any in the game yet. Anyone else?

This thread or one like it, if anyone would be willing to maintain it, that creates a mod database would serve very well as a sticky - at least until the Workshop is cleaned up. Thanks for the great info!

Guys behind these mods providing only few informations about compatibility between others mods. One exception is Mithkabob, and his statment is in first post:

"My industry and office level ups will work fine. Residential and commercial level ups will conflict with Proper Hardness. Depending upon load order, one or the other check will be performed." - he was talking about his Level Up Balance mod and Proper Hardness mod.

My recomendation is to use only Proper Hardness mode, cause it has the most features and if you use only one mod, chance of something goes wrong is very small. Note that you can use others mod that are diffrent kind of type, like these camera mods, spaced unlockable, roads change direction, etc. But its better to use only one mod that tweaks similar things (like leveling and other core game stats).
