There is existing experience of playing multiplayer games with the original Hearts of Iron and much of this experience is useful for a new player of the mark II game. In time, we might copy this information here but for now, here are some useful links to the corresponding HoI 1 forum:

• Router configuration library - you may need to configure your router if you have one. This shows working examples.

• ICQ contact list - Many players use ICQ to help keep in touch when starting HOI games. This thread has a list of players and their ICQ numbers, plus details of software for using this messenger.
  
  
• Multiplayer etiquette - Some issues to consider when setting up and joining multiplayer games. It helps to sort these out in advance as arguments during a game tend to spoil it.
